Sound Quality Comparison- 2 ohm DVC vs 4 ohm DVC

Ok, not sure if everyone understands, for the last time i realise about the benefits of wiring options, so stop explaining that, i know!! Ok here's an example. If i had a 10cm long wire wrapped into one single loop vs a 50cm long wire wrapped into 10 loops, which one would produce the bigger...

Sound Quality Comparison- 2 ohm DVC vs 4 ohm DVC

Obviously you don't know a lot about electronics and/or physics. My question is a lower resistance can be achieved by: - More coils (longer wire) - Thinner wire (Lower cross sectional area impedes current) But if more coils are utilised, the magnetic flux is increased, which i believe would...

what you laughing at? It's a completely valid question

Sound Quality Comparison- 2 ohm DVC vs 4 ohm DVC

I have an interesting question. If you were to get two identical subs but with different voice coil arrangements (one with 4 ohm DVC and one with 2 ohm DVC) would there be any noticeable sound quality differences? Would the 4 ohm sub have more coils to achieve a higher resistance whist providing...

Is it dangerous to have an amp mounted like this?

What about something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2-X-DUAL-FAN-ANODIZED-ALUMINIUM-HDD-COOLER-KITS-Blue_W0QQitemZ8723221948QQcategoryZ70876QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I could attach it to the amp with thermal adhesive (Transfers heat, but kinda like super glue) what do you reckon of this idea?

Loudest (Inexpensive) 10" Sub (plus amp)

Haha sounds humorous, subs on a cart. anyways have you thought about the electrical system? Surely you wouldn't have the power to run something half decent

    stability question

P=VI V=IR P=I^2*R When voltage is doubled in the case of bridging, the following happens P=2VI Therefore P=2V^2*R For example if voltage was 10v in stereo and 20v bridged, then @ 4ohms In bridged- (20)^2*4= 1600 watts In stereo- (10)^2*4= 400 watts So bridging has the effect of...

    stability question

sorry i was confusing, if you want to be confused more then the technical reason is: In bridged mode, the voltage is effectively doubled, hence you get double the power, at this point running at 4 ohms mono takes as much power as 2 ohm stereo. It's hard to explain but it comes down to ohms law...

Optimum sub size for rock/metal music

Hey guys, my 4 channel amp is waiting to have 2 of it's channels bridged to run a sub, pics at: http://home.iprimus.com.au/m_baldan/ With two channels bridged it will put out 380wrms @ 14.4v @ 4 ohms. I have a few problems, however. Firstly what is the best size for rock music. I would love...

    stability question

In mono mode, both channels see half the load, i.e. in stereo mode 2 ohms is the equivalent of having 4 ohms (as there is 2 ohms present on each channel) in mono mode, 2 ohms in mono would mean your amp is stable at 1 ohm in stereo

    Powerful enough?

Yer, if you want a ballpark figure, assume your amp is 70% efficient, if you know the exact value then that is better. But at 2000wrms @ 70% efficiency your power draw is 2800w, i=p/v, therefore i=2800/14.4, or 194 amps!!!!!!! You're gonna need a serious alternator not to mention some serious...

Trying to understan this ampres thing

Assuming your amp is 70% efficient, i don't know if this is a reasonable figure, but anyways. The current drawn will be: i=p/v where i is unknown p= 1560w (70% efficient) v= 14.4v (If this is the quoted voltage for 1200wrms) Therefore i= 108 amps You have a little bit of reserve to play...

    amp mods?

Hi there, i don't know a terrible lot about amps but i know a whole heap about electronics. Can you make an amp stable at a lower impedance? Theoretically yes, but in practical terms no. The heart of an amp consists of mosfets, semiconductors that basically take a small input voltage and pass a...

Is it dangerous to have an amp mounted like this?

thanks for all the input guys, i'll see how it goes. It will be interesting to see how much hotter it gets when i get a sub going. Are there any easy ways to cool amps? I was thinking of attaching a couple of computer fans on it, and running them off the relay which switches on with the remote...

Is it dangerous to have an amp mounted like this?

Hey guys, i just turned 18 ang got my self a 1992 S13 Nissan silvia Q. As i have limited space to play with in the boot, i mounted the amp on it's side against the rear of the back seats, you can see the pics at: http://home.iprimus.com.au/m_baldan/ the amp puts out 100 wrms into 4 channels...
