So Im running a 12" fi audio ssd and Im in the process of upgrading my amp alpine mrd-500 to a soundstream tarantula. My current amp is driving the sub with 500 watts (the subs RMS is 800, which is why im upgrading. The new amp will give the sub 1100 watts RMS... I know its a little much for...

what if i mounted it so that it would be on the back of the trunk lid, so when the trunk was closed (it wont fit entirely on the back so it'll have to angle slightly forward ... hard to fallow... it would sit kinda like this if the trunk lid was closed / its not a matter of looking pretty...

So Im wondering if its bad to mount an amp to the trunk lid... I would have to be careful when closing it to prevent it from slamming, but other than that? (I have a chevy cobalt... might look a lot like this)

yea I have the soundstream MTube 8 on order... Its a vacuum tube preamp that puts out up to 10V... That should cover for a while.

how do people feel about the soundstream tarantula's in general... good amps?

anything? i know its not really mainstream (kinda why i like the idea of it)...

yea, your probably not going to be able to power 2 fi subs with that amp... you might get away with a couple of the Ib3's but im not familiar with that particular sub... Fi does make some sick stuff though.

the THD on that amp is pretty high! 1-5%! ****... Anyways... I was just going to say that you should look at a fi q. I think you would be super happy with it... I have an ssd and I love it... get the BP power option if your concerned with the extra couple hundred watts youll be giving it.
