I think you have got it figured out man. The only thing that i do differently is using speaker grill cloth instead of fleece because it is cheap and works really good because it is so easy to stretch over curves and angles.

there are alot of different kinds of vinyl that stretch in alot of different ways. take a sample of the vinyl and see which way has the most stretch to it so you will know which way to orient it when you put it on to go around curves and edges to get the best fit. and leave the backing on it

if you have a cheap paint gun then go to a local upholstery shop and buy a quart of their contact glue. The stuff we use locally is called weldwood. It is laquer based so you can thin it a little with some laquer thinner from oreilly's but that is what they use for headliners and upholstery...
