The air bubbles will be purely cosmetic. You will not notice any change in sound fromt hem.

Badpass boxes are VERY hard to get to sound good. Go with a ported box.

Of course it's going to beat it if it's a 12" MAGNUM vs a 10w7. bUT 12W7 VS 12" Magnum would be close.
