    JL Audio HD900/5 amps overheating

While I'm no expert, I would think that they are installed to maximum efficiency. I'm running active crossover and have one channel dedicated to each 12" woofer, each tweeter, and each rear coaxial. I have the remaining 4 channels bridged and running the 6.5"s. Since my first post I have...

    JL Audio HD900/5 amps overheating

Hi everyone, I recently had two JL HD900/5 installed to replace my old Memphis amp. While I had this done, I also upgraded my electrical by having an 80 amp hour Shuriken battery installed under the hood; the ground wires for the battery and engine were doubled up as well as the alternator to...

    Alt/battery help!

OK so I found the problem. The ground wasn't the issue because I used the same ground with my old amp and it never gave me problems. I checked my amp settings and the installer had turned on the ultrasonic filter on one of the amps...duh. After messing with the equalizer I was able to get a...

    Alt/battery help!

Would it be a good idea to leave my stock battery and then upgrade to a large secondary? Wouldn't that be bad for both batteries unless they are the same type? Should I wire them parallel or isolate the secondary batt?

    Alt/battery help!

Hey all; recently had a new pair of JL HD 900/5s installed to replace my old 600w baby Memphis Belle in my '06 Nissan Altima SE-R. Running a Pioneer DEX-P99RS. I have the 500w channel of each amp running to each of my 12" subs in a sealed box. On one amp I have the 4 100w channels bridged to...

    single vs multi-amp setups

What about like an Audison AV 5.1k 75x2, 140x2, 600x1 @ 4 ohms (1000x1 @ 2 ohms) I would be running 4 channels to my HAT Clarus comps, and the mono to the subs of course. I have 2 Memphis M3 12s (600/1200 @ 2 ohm). This Audison seems like the perfect fit, and isn't it cheaper to buy 1...

    single vs multi-amp setups

Hey everyone, I was just wondering that if, assuming equal quality and power, there are any technical advantages of having a setup of 2 2-channel ams and a mono-amp for the sub over having a single 5-channel amp. The only things i could think of is that a multi-amp setup might be better for...

    Active Crossover question

Thanks for the tip; I plan on upgrading to a Pioneer DEH-80prs or maybe even the P99rs, so I'm definitely with you on the keeping it simple philosophy. I also assume that these built-in crossover h/u's don't fall into the category of "crappy" although I'm still a bit of a newb at the more...

    Active Crossover question

That does sound like a good option...Maybe I could start with the two channel and eventually upgrade to a bigger 5-channel if the power is an issue. It may not be though, I'm not sure, I've never run it active. I was leaning towards eventually replacing my current amp mainly because I've run...

    Active Crossover question

I'm looking at something like an Arc Se4200 which is 110wx4 @ 4 ohms or 400wx2 @ 4 ohm bridged. I thought with active crossover it was good to have one channel going to eack speaker of the component rather than bridged to the set. Or would the Helix 85wx4 be better for my purposes? I'll be...

    Active Crossover question

One more thing...If I were to get like a Pioneer DEH-80prs with active crossover on 3 channels, eq, time alignment etc, would this make any of these features on whatever 4-channel amp i decide to go with redundant? Also, if I had a 4-channel amp running the front, could it accept 2 of the...

    Active Crossover question

Great, thanks for the input. I'll probably end up getting a new h/u that can play CDs and run an active crossover. On that note, I may end up going 3-way active eventually and would need something that can handle all the channels as well as my subs. If I run active in the front with a...

    Active Crossover question

Hey guys, just a quick question here. I plan on switching my setup to active crossover soon and I was wondering if I necessarily needed to buy an outboard DSP like an MS-8 to handle the crossover and Eq, or if could just take out my passive crossovers, and then run my tweets and mids off of 2...

    New H/U or new Amp?

When you say "in phase" you basically mean that the wires are hooked to the correct terminals, right? I hope thats not the issue...I had them professionally installed by a reputable place.
