    0V on speaker lines

Revisiting this issue...I still have teh DEH-P390MP but I didn't install it. The DEH-1700 is still in the car and works fine on most days. I think the issue is heat related because it seems to work fine as long as the temperature outside is 85 or less. If it gets really hot, then the stereo...

    0V on speaker lines

I'm measuring with whatever is playing on the CD player using a DMM on Vac. I know I should only get a small voltage due to the music not being consistent, but still not 0V even if the volume it turned up to the maximum level. I don't know how or why, but the HU suddenly started working...

    6x9 in the trunk?

I am working with a 1991 Toyota Corolla that did not originally have a stereo built in. The car will only accommodate 4" speakers in the dash and 5-1/4" speakers in the rear deck and that still requires cutting. I was wondering if I took a pair of 6x9s and put them in boxes in the trunk, how...

    0V on speaker lines

How do I check continuity to ground? With the speaker wires still connected to the stereo and the stereo turned off, I measured approx 4 ohms, less than 10% variation, for each speaker at the back of the stereo.

    0V on speaker lines

It's a Toyota Corolla. The car was not equipped with a radio, it was not standard equipment back then. The radio worked fine until yesterday. There are two 5" speakers, 4 ohms each, connected to the radio on the front only. The rear channels are left open.

    0V on speaker lines

I am having a problem with my Pioneer DEH-1700. There is no output from the speakers. I am measuring 0V across the speaker terminals when the radio is on and when it's supposed to be playing. I am certain there is power because there's approx 12V between the ground and battery and ground and...

Sound Quality, CD's vs. MP3's, vs. Type

Even on my computer I can tell the difference between lossy and lossless formats. Even though MP3 and sat radios claim "near CD quality" I find it lacking but it's typically ok. Like you've stated, the higher the compression or the better the system, the more apparent the difference becomes...

    Wiring amp

There are two sets of mono outputs to ease installation in some situations. You only need to use one set of the mono outputs from the amp and then connect the wires on the sub accordingly for series or parallel.

Only using 2 ch on a 6 ch amp

Sweet, thanks. I was thinking it should be ok - I wouldn't have done it otherwise. But then I saw this thread: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=286086 and cx-7's post freaked me out a bit.

Only using 2 ch on a 6 ch amp

I have a JBL GTO 755.6 amp. This is a 6 channel amp; 4 channels are full range, and 2 are for subs only. Presently, I only have Arc 6000 component set installed and have them bridged so that they basically take up all the full range channels. I currently do not have a sub installed so the 2...

Are you talking about the 9885? There is no 9855 on Alpine's site.

    Hurricane Nuts?

I've used regular T-nuts on 5/8" MDF with no issues for subwoofers or camera mounts. Usually when I put the T-nuts in, I drill a hole slightly smaller than the OD of the T-nut. I then put the screw with a big washer through the hole and then tighten the screw to draw the T-nut into the MDF...
