How many of you own "old school" equipment?

    Two PPI AM series amps-- a 4100AM and a 2075AM. Also, a Phoenix Gold EQ230 30-band EQ.

    5-channel amp question

Stock locations. I had a shop do it, so I don't think they took time to make MDF baffles for the woofers or anything, but I may redo it myself one day. The tweeters look completely stock, so I was pretty happy about that part.

    5-channel amp question

Head unit is a Panasonic CQ-HR1003U (already installed). Fronts are a Canton 6.5" component set (installed). Rears are currently stock but I have both some Alpine Type-R 6x9s and some Infinity Reference 6x9s to choose from to put in the rear deck inside some MDF enclosures. The Mach 460 system...

    5-channel amp question

Well with the 700.5 I wouldn't need to bridge anything, just use it straight up with everything at 4 ohms. If I get some other 4-channel amp, that's when I would use the HU to power the rears and the 4-channel amp for fronts and bridged for sub. BTW, got any install pics of your car? Mine's a...

    5-channel amp question

Excellent-- thanks for the responses. I searched around on here last night and was thinking this was the case, but I needed to make sure. I also read on another thread that you can use a 4-channel amp and bridge two channels to run the sub, use the other two to run fronts, and use your head...

    5-channel amp question

Can you do this with all (or most) 5-channel amps? I was wondering this exact same thing. I was thinking of maybe getting the Kicker ZX700.5.

Which one of my PPI amps should I sell?

First off, this is NOT a classified ad in disguise-- I'm only looking for opinions from the car audio illuminati. I have two old AM series Precision Power amps that have been sitting in my garage for years, and now I'm finally putting together another system for my current vehicle. Since I'm...

    can a run a ppi 2075am at 20hms bridged?

So, just to clarify, if you bridge a 2075AM it's still running at 4 ohms? Sorry for the newb question, but when it comes to electrical stuff I'm an idiot.

    "name" brands...

Truer words have never been spoken. So, what are some of the non-mainstream brands that are worth looking into?

Can't find a sub to fit this RF box

I actually have an extra one of these enclosures that has a crack in it, so today I tried drilling different screw pilot holes in it and inserting some screws to see how it would hold. Seems to work pretty good, so now I've decided that as long as the replacement sub fits into the cutout and the...

Can't find a sub to fit this RF box

I did-- I actually lugged the box down to a car stereo place yesterday and that's one of the ones they tried to test-fit, but the overall frame diameter was a bit too big.

Can't find a sub to fit this RF box

I have one of those Rockford Fosgate pre-formed urethane boxes for my 03 Mustang that looks like a JL Stealthbox knockoff. The sub that came in it, an RFP-1410, is an absolute piece of crap-- the surround completely separated from the frame before I even installed it. So, I need a replacement...

    Is amber illumination extinct?

That 9855 is nice-- kinda hard to find, though since it's an older model. There's a couple on eBay right now, but don't know what condition they're in.

    Is amber illumination extinct?

Thanks for the replies-- she's now changed her mind somewhat and would be satisfied with an iPod-ready deck, since USB and/or SD capability is not very common.

    Is amber illumination extinct?

Hi all-- new to the forums. My stepdaughter has a 2002 Toyota Celica and wants a head unit that will match the amber/orange dash lighting. I've looked all over and everything nowadays seems to be blue or some strange combination of blue and other stuff. When I searched the forums, I found one...
