    Eclipse CD5030

That was what I was planning to get actually, it was definitely my first choice. Then I read the manual, and confirmed with Kenwood Support, that the right wheel button works in a backwoods manner...and one that I find totally F'ing annoying and unusable. See, instead of making the right wheel...

    Eclipse CD5030

Well, for me, it's that my stock HU is somewhat broke...so having a correctly operating HU will be the biggest plus for me. I just realized though that the CD5030 doesn't support AAC files via the USB memory sticks. Not a dealbreaker - I can always convert them to MP3 - however it's...

Yeah, planning to run my stock '03 Ranger (non-Tremor) speakers for the foreseeable future. Chuck

@RowJoe: You're saying the difference between 14w RMS and 25w RMS isn't big? I asking...I'm truly so new to this stuff that I just don't know. To me, it sounded large...granted, I know 25w RMS isn't powerful at all, but surely I thought the difference between 14w RMS and 25w RMS would be...

    Eclipse CD5030

I care because I'm not planning to add an amp, not soon, if ever. I'm not an audio expert by any stretch of any imagination, however, 14w vs. 25w sounds to be like a huge discrepency....one that Crutchfield.com and Eclipse ought to get cleared up between themselves. If it was 14w vs. 16w, or...

    Best budget head unit?

Well, it's $200 shipped, but the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693 from Crutchfield.com would be a pretty nice unit for her. With all the color options on it, it should let her match the color perfectly...seems the rest of the options it has fit what you're looking for as well. Walking through the...

    Kenwood KDC-X993 Finally Out!!

@bamaboy: No, you're right, the past couple generations of older two wheeled Excelon's don't do it like I'm looking for either...that's why I was hoping Kenwood would have corrected that F up this time around. I cannot tell you how annoying it is, for both my brother and I, when using his...

    Eclipse CD5030

Whew! That's a relief! That's a definite error for Crutchfield.com (providing Clarion's website is right)...which makes me wonder now if the 14x4 RMS rating they have for the Eclipse CD5030 is really right. 14x4...that just seems really........low......for someone like Eclipse to put out...

The Clarion FZ709 doesn't have an AM/FM tuner?? First I've heard of that...is that a for sure or what? Chuck

    Kenwood KDC-X993 Finally Out!!

@bamaboy: Is there a way to change the right wheel control so when you're using the FM tuner, or playing songs off a USB stick, that instead of pushing the right wheel left and right to change frequency/track, you can instead rotate the wheel clockwise/counterclockwise? Chuck

    Eclipse CD5030

One thing that'd be nice to be cleared up, for those of us that won't use an amp, is what this really puts out for RMS? The manual lists 25x4, but no mention of CEA-2006 rating, which one would think if was so rated, would be listed. Crutchfield.com - the only place as of yet to even buy this...

    Kenwood KDC-X993 Finally Out!!

If only Kenwood had made the right wheel button work properly...why Kenwood, WHY?!!?! Now I have to wait for the Eclipse CD5030 or Clarion FZ709....grr..... Chuck P.S. That 5 line display is really nice...off to sulk now.....

    Eclipse CD5030

I too am waiting for this deck, after finding that Kenwood has extended using the crappy click left/right interface on the right wheel control for changing stations/songs - why one would ever do that over just simply turning the right wheel clockwise/counter-clockwise I will never know...but, I...

    Kenwood KDC X-993

Interesting that they'd do that. One would think that after you have the hardware and firmware developed, you'd at minimum bring that level of performance forward...backscaling on features on your top deck for the year (which the X99? is each year) doesn't seem to be too smart.
