Break in IDQ10 on air (no box)?

I ran it at very moderate volumes on air for about 12 hours, then installed it today. Definitely sounds great. I have a Honda Fit, and it's more than plenty of sub for the car

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

You were right. I ended up pairing the IDQ10 with a Crossfire BMF250M because (a) it fit on the side of the Atrend hatchback box and (b) SonicE had a 30% off coupon special on Crossfire last week. Because I had to have someone cut the opening to fit that 9.6" basket that the IDQ10 has going on...

Break in IDQ10 on air (no box)?

Because I'm doing the install on the amp and sub on Sunday. I'm one of those people that believe SQ sometimes does improve a little over a break-in period. If the sub is sitting around my house, might as well let it break in some if I can.

Break in IDQ10 on air (no box)?

Just got my IDQ10 V3 D4, but it will be a 2 days before my box is ready. Is it safe to do a little break in at low power on air without a box? I was thinking I would wire it at 8 ohms, then run it off my HK 3390 home audio receiver speaker outputs with songs that have been LPF'd at around 120hz...

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

I found out I'm getting a bonus through work next week, so I upped my budget and ordered the IDQ10 V.3 D4. Thanks for everyone's help!

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

I could see a custom box being very important for a ported sub to get the right tuning. But according to the reviews, the craftsmanship of the Atrend E10S hatchback box appears to be fine and of very sturdy design. The only main benefit I could see for spending twice as much or more for a...

Crossfire BFM or C3 amp for better SQ?

Answered my own questions. While no longer linked from their main site, found the C3 and BMF/C5 amplifier pages. So the BMF does appear to be the better line. Going with that.

Crossfire BFM or C3 amp for better SQ?

Purchasing an ID10 D4 V.3 to go in a sealed box and need an amp. Because I have a Honda Fit, I've narrowed it down to the Crossfire C3 501 & Crossfire BMF250M because they will fit on the side of the sub box and they fit in my budget. The C3 has the advantage of a smaller footprint and...

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

Now I see that the DCONs are out of stock, and then with the build time and shipping, I'd be a long time without a sub. Seems like there was enough support for one of my first choices, the ID10 D4 V.3. Looks like that box is a good choice, too. Since the Kenwood amp deal didn't work out, I'll...

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

Also, Amazon has the Atrend E10S B Box Hatchback style enclosure for $35 which is rated at 0.85 "Cu. Ft. per Side" on Atrend's website. The DCON-10 D4 has listed enclosure volume of .75 cu.ft., with .90 cu.ft. optimal. So would that be a good enclosure size? The "cu. ft. per side" is confusing me

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

So the Dcon would have better SQ than the Sundown?

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

Thanks. I already found WoofersEtc's main website for the Sundown subs. And I know the Alpine M series is very good, but I'm getting a REALLY good deal on the Kenwood. It's a starter amp until I can get what I want down the road.

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

Thanks. That sounds like a very good option then, and I see people have good things to say about the Sundown subs. I also like the idea of buying from a smaller company that participates in the forum. Looks like I'm going to be able to pick up a used Kenwood KAC-8104D for a good price off CL...

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

I don't want to use a bigger box, so ported is out with the DCON. The Honda Fit hatch area is very small already, and I don't want to lose any more space. According to the calculations I did--and I am new at this--the optimal sealed box size for the Dayton HO is 0.31 cubic feet. The box I have...

10" budget sub for .7 ft3 sealed for SQ

Thanks. I read a lot of good things about the ID subs and was leaning towards it. I see that Crutchfield has the Diamond Audio D610D4 on closeout for $169. Am I correct in assuming that's more comparable in class to the IDQ10 V.3 D4? Seems like it might be worth the extra $30 over the ID10 D4...
