    87.7 Fm

Ha OK, I knew that would be the first thing someone would say. Seriously I listen to everything though, so it sucks to miss out on an interesting source due to a technicality after spending so much on a nice system. Anyone got an E-mail address for Kenwood's engineering dept? Preferably one...

    87.7 Fm

There's a new dance music station in NYC at 87.7 FM. Trouble is, half of my radios including my Kenwood HU only tune down as far as 87.9 FM. Which companies make HUs that tune down to 87.7? Better yet, is there any way to convince Kenwood to release a new firmware that will enable this...

Sold Elemental Designs NINe.4 amp - new in box

Elemental Designs NINe.4 amp, brand new in box, not B-stock. $200 + actual shipping cost to your zip. I have no history on this site but you can check my EBay feedback -- over 98%, all good except two retaliations from deadbeats after I reported them for non-performance. My username there is...

Not happy with CDT Eurosport setup

Thanks guys, I'll try those things. I suspect what I'm really hearing, though, is that dip around 4kHz that Dj mentioned. That's right around the range where those snare transients and vocal presence should be, so I don't know if damping, going active or reversing phase are really going to...

Not happy with CDT Eurosport setup

Here's the best way I can describe it. It sounds full but kind of wooden. It has definition, especially in the highs, but lacks presence. The lows are solid and the highs have that silky tweeter sound that goes "psst psst", but the vocals sound chesty, the snare is missing snap, the overall...

Not happy with CDT Eurosport setup

Stock location in an '07 Rav4 front door. Woofer is mounted on 3/4" MDF ring, I used speaker gasket on the back of the woofer and the ring, door is deadened over 50% on with butyl-based product.

Not happy with CDT Eurosport setup

I've had my CDT ES-620s in for a few weeks now, and I've always known something was missing but couldn't quite put my finger on it. The midbass sounds solid and the highs sound extended, but the snare lacks snap and the vocals sound airy but somehow lacking. Finally I went out with an SPL...

    CDT Eurosport 620 Review

I bumped up my crossovers to +3 tonight and it pretty much solved the problem. I'm able to leave my settings at or near flat and the music has more life and better overall balance now. To answer your question Pickzilla I'm running that ED amp in 4-channel mode.

    CDT Eurosport 620 Review

HU has built-in options for frequency, level and Q so I've been playing with those. I'd like to get the speakers sounding their best with the HU settings "flat" though since I like accuracy. Right now they're sounding too dull that way, that's why I wondered what setting Pickzilla was using on...

    CDT Eurosport 620 Review

I've had the same speakers for about a month driven by an ED Nine.4, and I'm still tweaking. To me they sound quite lifeless with the HU in "defeat". I can get them to sound OK with a generous dose of EQ but that's not the point, I need to go out there with an SPL meter and do some frequency...

    Elemental Designs NINe.4

That's a beautiful Sundown amp but I only have about 10x12 inches of room to work with under my front seat unless I want to start modifying rear heating ductwork. One of my priorities is to keep things out of sight and looking stock. I'm not an SPL fiend at all, I just want an amp that fits in...

    Elemental Designs NINe.4

Is this considered to be a decent amp? I thought ED was a respected brand but I haven't been able to find any THD or Frequency Response +/-dB specs on the NINe.4, which makes me wonder. I'm looking at this amp to power a set of CDT Eurosport components in front and Classic series coaxials in...

Best Sound Quality 4 CH amp aside from a JL 300/4

So then which brands are the best bang for the buck? In other words - flat response, low noise, low THD, reputable manufacturer, good value but not low-end junk?
