    Noise Coming Through Sound System

I ended up having to disconnect my second amp and my 6X9s because of this very issue. Are the RCA outputs you're using embedded in the head unit, or do they leave the back of the head unit as two wires with female parts on the end? It was only my second set that caused any noise interference...

    My amp died today?

Arrrrghhhhhhh my sound system is going to be the death of me. Just when you get everything sounding perfect. You're just bumpin along, minding your own business, when suddenly your amp craps out. I don't even know what to do. I bought that amp in May. Of this year. Because my previous...

    Dodge Dakota Build Log

if you're still shopping around for the mids, the alpines 6.5s I have (referenced in signature) fit really well in my durango and would complemet that head unit nicely. I'm running four of them and the sound is perfect-o. No distortions (and alpine should pay me for this...)

you = subject are = "being" verb therefore, "you are an idiot" = sentence It's not a fragment. and no, you actually learn that in third grade. don't get on my case for not capitalizing - I'm aware.

    amp wont push?

While you're on the topic, is the bolt that attaches the backseat to the chassis a horrible place to ground the amp? I scraped off all the paint and non-strip gunk and what not and made sure it was nice and tight, but I'm also getting the weak sound. Thanks! -amanda

    New amp???

How about the PRS-D2000T? It's a 1200W amp with a 4ohm 2X150 capacity. I'm still hung up on the wattage. I really want those things to thump like they used to. I'm pissed at the guys at the audio shop for recommending the amp I have now. I'm not so great at choosing componenets on my own....but...

    New amp???

The reason I'm having this dilemma in the first place in because I blew the amp I had for three years by turning up the bass on my ipod equalizer.

    New amp???

Ha...my subs are the exact one you have in your pic. Glad you answered then. What do you use?

    New amp???

So I'm running two Pioneer Premier 12's with a Gm-6300F. The subs can handle up to 1000 watts max each, but the amp only pushes out 300. I'm pretty sure the subs are 4 ohm, which I was running them at before. The amp bridges out at 4 ohms for four speakers, and 8 ohm for two, therefore it is...

    New alternator needed?

Do you know the amperage of your alternator? Some people will say it's a myth that you can burn out an alternator with a sound system, but I have gone through two alternators myself. This is why I started doing my own install. The sound system adds to the amperage that is being drawn out of your...

    Cut my RCAS

If they are they RCAs with the separate set of internal wires then it gets very difficult. I tried that once because I had four sets of RCAS that wouldn't reach the back of my car, and I needed two. So I crimped them together. They kept cutting out and sounded really distant. In other words, I...

    installation injuries

Unfortunately I no longer have the rugburns on my knuckles from ratcheting my ground down but they were pretty bad for a while. My favorite, though, is getting little tiny pieces of copper wire in my skin that I can't even see to pull out. Every time you brush it on something it stings like...

    Prob with new amp..Please help

I recently purchased a GM-6300F amplifier to replace an old GM-5100T to power my Pioneer Premier 12in subs. The max power output for the old GM-5100T was 760X1; 150X2. The max power output for the new GM-6300F is 120X4; 300X2. My understanding is that since I am powering two subs, the new...

    intermittent bass

Okay here's the dealio now. I isolated the problem; a blown input on the amp. I hooked up a new amp and I can't get it to bump anywhere near what the old one did. The new amp is a Pioneer GM-6300F, whereas the old one was a GM-5100T. This new is a four channel amp with max power 120X4; 300X2...
