Found out that the Pioneer X8500 and X5500 have more differences that aren't listed.

Look through the app radio forum, appears to be yes. It would require you to root your phone and to buy the ARliberator app from the market. Pretty much, if your phone can do those things at the same time now, it would still be able to do this with the radio with ARliberator.

That's obvious and you're missing my point. No where does Pioneer call out the differences that I've noticed. Had I known these things, I would have probably went for the X8500 in the beginning.

App radio function truly only requires an hdmi cable, mhl adapter, and a 1 amp micro usb charger. That's what comes in the kit plus more useless stuff. I got my parts for $25 which includes the HTC oem mhl adapter that my phone specifically required due to the special extmicro connector.

Back up camera problem - Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD

Who did your install? I'm looking on the internet and I see that your HU's wiring harness has a reverse gear input signal lead just like I said it did. You have a broken or non-hooked up camera. Got this picture from an ebay auction.

Back up camera problem - Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD

My Pioneer HU switches to rear view camera via the reverse sensor wire which is separately spliced to the reverse lights. I bet yours is the same way. That is how the radio knows to switch to the camera input.

Back up camera problem - Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD

Its your camera that makes the lines, not the HU. Did you test the camera before installing it in the car? Things that could be wrong. 1. Bad RCA cable or not connected. 2. Camera not getting power from reverse lights 3. Broken camera Your HU wiring is correct since it switches to the...

Found out that the Pioneer X8500 and X5500 have more differences that aren't listed.

So I've had the AVH-X5500BHS installed in my car for over a week. Thought it was a great HU outside of the sun washing out the screen. So I started my search over again looking into more HU's. I bench tested a Kenwood DDX470, but it was slow with usb drive and required a special cable to play...

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

You may laugh, but I've considered this. Did some google searches. Appears they make these for GPS units and tablets. I may add modify one to mount with magnets for when I need it.

You obviously didn't read the whole thread.

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

Yeah, the only way I'd consider to do it is to have a single din installed in between the tablet and my speakers. I would not use the 3.5mm jack because I've heard the audio quality is lower. I would use a Nexus 7 like most people. There are some installs that I like, but the work they put into...

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

I wouldn't need a shop to do it, the installation would be easy for my car. The problem is being able to have FM radio, a physical volume button, & hands free calling through the car. Those are some of the main problems I have with using a tablet as an HU.

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

That's on the list also, but it won't solve it all. The very first day this happened 90% of the sun was coming through the windshield. A stripe at the top wouldn't even of helped. I used my hand to see where it would have to be to put a shade over the screen and it was the middle part of the...

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

Alright, I'm going to give Pioneer another shot due to some tests I did this weekend. I used my 18v LED flashlight to simulate the sun shinning on the screen. I tested out a kenwood DDX470 and it appeared to be slightly more visible, but still not great. There are no other brands I'd want to...

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

The high heat is probably what my problem was. I do plan on getting tint, but not on the front window so I'll have a sunshade up while I'm parked at work.

This Double Din has Gotta Go X5500BHS with horrible washout from the sun. Need new HU

What's sad for me is I don't mind spending a big chunk of change on an HU if its worth the money. I'd drop $1000 on an Android HU if it was top notch. As of right now, I'm not seeing anything that's worth it. If it weren't for the washout on my X5500, I'd say it was a 8 out of 10. It's laggy...
