    Spades, crimping and so forth!

Doh! How could I not have thought of that!!! It's so simple... So what's the exact procedure. Let's say you have a stripped 4 gauge end, and a spade to crimp on. Do you simply bend open the crimp, solder the wire in place, then crimp it down a bit to protect the solder joint, wrap it in...

    Spades, crimping and so forth!

Thanks for the quick reply! So you mean literally soldering the bare wires directly onto the amplifier terminal eh? Sounds fairly hardcore, but perfectly doable. It also sounds like a total nightmare to remove when the time comes. How would you handle that? ~MiSfit

    Spades, crimping and so forth!

Hey all, So I've got my sub and amp, and I've run a set of 4 gauge, remote, RCA etc... Now I have to get the connectors on the wires. The set I bought came with 2x 4 gauge spade crimps, and 2x ring crimps. It also came with a nice 4 gauge ring screw-down connector for the battery->fuse...

Parts ordered, time to build a box

Right, so the cube root of 1.3 is ~ 1.09, which means ~13.09 inches. Does the stated cubic air space take into consideration the displacement of the woofer? In other words, if I literally make a 13 and 1/16 inch cube with a 12" hole in one side, should I be good to go?? ~MiSfit

Parts ordered, time to build a box

Hey all, So I finally settled on an MB Quart PWH 302 sub, and a Power Acoustix OV2-1250 amp. Source is a Pioneer DEH-P6000UB head unit. I'll feed the amp with 4 gauge wiring, and use 10 gauge for the speaker connections (guessing) I'm going to bridge the amp, and run 4ohms. I want to build a...

    PowerBass - Worth a dime?

OK - I've settled on the MB Quart sub. I think I'm also settled on the PA BAMF20001D amplifier. Now, I just need to decide about the enclosure. I'm definitely thinking sealed, and the website suggests 1.4 cubic feet. Where's a good place to buy high quality, simple 3/4" MDF enclosures? ~MiSfit

    PowerBass - Worth a dime?

I'm not looking for SPL though :| Impressive that you got so much boom out of such cheap subs, but it's not what I'm looking to do ~MiSfit

    PowerBass - Worth a dime?

@IbSlamn - that's what I was worried about I'm pretty sold on the MB Quart sub with dual 2 ohm voice coils. Now I have to decide on an amp... The Kenwood KAC-7204 seems pretty awesome - it's $129 and is 500W bridged at 4ohm. The Hifonics BXi608 looks pretty awesome as well, but I'm always...

    PowerBass - Worth a dime?

Okay. So I'm looking to spend a max of $500. I wand a single 12, emphasis on sound quality. I'm paying for installation (figure $150 for an hour of labor and a wire kit), but the shop is open to both ordering for me, or having me bring in my own components. What do you guys suggest? $500, my...

    PowerBass - Worth a dime?

In doing more research I see their high end stuff is good, but I'm a little skeptical. I mean, their entry level 12" (what I'm looking at) goes for ~$40 online. It's a paper cone sub too. Thanks for the advice. ~MiSfit
