It might not have helped him, but helped me out tremendously. I just purchased one and is suppose to be here in a few days. I tried and researched all the possible HU choices for under $650 and found most people to be very pleased with the x889. Can't wait....

So, in essence, if I buy a BRAND NEW HU online from other than Crutchfield's, then Kenwood will not honor the warranty? I guess that's why you can get one for like $200 cheaper online. That sux, now I'm not sure if paying the extra $200 is worth the security "just in case" something goes...

What are your thoughts on this HU? I relly like it, however I want to invest in something that is worth it. Its between the kdx-889 and the 25th Anniversary HU. Thanx...Jamie

I am new to the site and have been searching mant forums and trying to find out all the in's and out's of different HU's. I currently have 2 Memphis Audio 10's in a ProBox (M -class 10's), and 6.5's Memphis Audios for the doors. I am looking for a amp too, but I'll post that in another thread...

Thats the only thing I would be lery of, b/c sometimes, I have heard that the manufactuer would not recongize the warr. Anyway, it is a great deal as I am in the market for a head unit and have found this one to run around $ 549.
