Ok just got my system set up. Got a taramp bass 3k. Found a really good ground under the seat. Did a clamp test and getting 50 volts and 12 amps which is about 600 watts and at this point its clipping.... measured the amp voltage at inputs and getting 12v exactly. Getting 13.9 at the battery...

Ok so I moved the ground and the current almost doubled so it's definitely a ground issue. Now I'm getting 54 volts at 11 amps. Just measured the preamp output and it's 2 volts which is what the manufacturer says its supposed to put out. I'm honestly starting to think I have an improper ground causing it to clip at very low gains.

Kenwood dmx4707s head unit. Everything for the sub are set to let the amp handle everything (called through), bass boost off, eq off. Head unit is literally doing nothing. I wonder if my ground is causing the issue? I'm gonna measure my grounds resistance tonight and see.

What scale should the amp meter be set to then? I need to get this right because I'm overpowering the subs to the max and I don't want to blow them.

Trust me I did my research and set my gains appropriately. I am using the bass boost but I set the boost before the gain to avoid any clipping. I actually got a bass 3k today and I was gonna ask what the box is tuned for so I can set the subsonic filter properly. I'm using the prefab kicker...

That was exactly the model what I was thinking to. Maybe gain down a little to keep it at 15-20 percent of the subs rms rating which seems to be the general consensus. Going to pick up the 1800.1 tomorrow!
