Car battery dies after 20 minutes of audio use

Thanks. I'm going to call auto shops next week and see what they can do to test the battery (current/load and not just voltage or a good CCA /capacity test) and also the alternator.

Yea. Maybe. I'll get it replaced and see how that goes.

Car battery dies after 20 minutes of audio use

Yea it does 12.6 at rest and 14-14.2 when the engine is running. Thats nice you can run your system for 2 hours. What kind of battery is it? How can I find out the battery's true CCA? I bet its actual capacity is is like 30-50% of its advertised value which is 700CCA. On one forum I saw someone...

Car battery dies after 20 minutes of audio use

Yea I guess. People in this thread talk about the battery dying in 20 minutes but these are probably more powerful systems than mine. Or maybe my system still draws a lot of current. Yea. I guess have to stop using the amp if the car is not running. I could turn the bass all the way down.

Car battery dies after 20 minutes of audio use

I have a sedan with a 12 inch subwoofer in the back with this amp just for giving some bass boost: Pioneer GM-X862. Its specs say 380 watts x 1 (for a single 4 ohm speaker). It says its max watts is 760w x 1. Says its average current drawn for 1 channel is 10amps for 2 channels and 17 amps for...

Optimal config for more bass with one sub-woofer?

Thanks for all the input, guys! I decided to work on it last weekend, got 12 gauge wire from Lowes and replaced the speaker wires. They were really flimsy basically (regular car speaker wires). I actually felt them warm up sometimes because they weren't able to carry the amps. I felt that made...

Optimal config for more bass with one sub-woofer?

hi guys I have a 12" subwoofer in the back of the car that I use to get bass. Its powerful enough for me but I'm wondering if I'm making optimal use of the amp/sub-woofer combination. I feel the bass goes down a little bit at high volumes but its not a big issue. I just want to make sure I'm...

Bass flattens out at higher volumes

Thanks, I looked at all those and am searching "bass restoration", checking it out. Well, glad I came here, I'd never have found out.

Bass flattens out at higher volumes

Thank you! Interesting hmmmm, so the wiring wont make a difference probably. I cant get another HU, its built/merged into the car's dash and would be hard to replace. Whats that interface called?

Bass flattens out at higher volumes

Yea, I'm using the factory deck. I took out the signal from one of the speakers and fed it into the amp's RCA input and adjusted the input level (2002 car, the stock audio unit does not have a dedicated sub output). I know my whole setup is really basic but I need just a little bit more bass...

Bass flattens out at higher volumes

Amp: Pioneer GM-X962 (Max: 760W x 1) Subwoofer: Hifonics HFi 12D4 (300W) Input to amp is taken from one speaker output of the car's stock audio system (no dedicated sub output) Wiring: - thick wire for ground - using two "normal" wires for (+ve) from car's own system - "normal" speaker...
