    First actual HU install

Yep, the SWI-X works pretty good. The wiring of it was a little hard to understand at first, but I got through it. I like that you can program it so the steering wheel controls do whatever you want them to do. The link below documents my first ever install ('04 Chevy Blazer). Audio install

Adding Aux input to a Ford Ranger without spending $60

I wanted to do the same thing with my radio, so I tried a Soundgate AUXGM in my Chevy Blazer. It required power, which I presume was to create a signal to make the radio recognize the auxiliary input. To make something similar, you would need to start with getting a harness to fit the back of...

    Something about wiring amps

I did exactly the same with my two amps...not a lot of current flowing through the remote wire, so a couple amps wired together should be O.K.

    install Q's - Chevy blazer

On the Blazer, it's unlikely that you'll need an antenna extension. I didn't when installing a Sony HU in my '04 Blazer. I did have to slip a rubber o-ring over the outside of the antenna plug that goes in the back of the HU, because the plug fit kinda loose (needed to be a bit wider in diameter...

audio input 2 HU help please!!

Here's an idea...use "to" instead of "2". Sorry, morning sarcasm already kicking in and I have no useful info other than sometimes you need a special bus adapter like what Pioneer and Kenwood use to get the head unit to recognize the auxiliary input.

    Hooking up power inverter

The power wire from the battery can only handle so much current before it heats up (depends on the gauge). Too hot = burning wires = say goodbye to your vehicle (and, mostly likely, get to watch while it burns on the side of the road). I don't know much about inverters and how much current they...

    wiring up 3 amps

I would, although it depends on the combined power of the amps. There's a calculator on the BCAE website - scroll down the index on the right side and click on "Wire". From there, look under "Maximum Power for a Given Wire Size".

    Pioneer MOSFET 50wX4

Start . Most manuals can be downloaded from the Pioneer website.

    Pple at radio shack

You need a raise. Remember this, though...not everyone wants to be sold. But I'd bet it doesn't take you long to figure out who those people are.

    sealing firewall

Here's how I did it: The smaller (red) wire went through the big rubber grommet where the radio antenna wire comes through the firewall (note the silcone sealant). The larger (blue) wire has a smaller grommet where I drilled through the firewall. Get a grommet that has a fairly snug fit...

will this cause feedback or blown speakers or what

True 'dat. What you did was wire two sets of speakers in parallel. Many external amps can handle 2-ohm loads, but your head unit won't last too long the way you've got the speakers wired.

    02 Chevy Suburban (DASH KIT)?

Here's what I used for my '04 Blazer: Metra kit It also has a double-DIN opening. I like the way it puts the head unit higher up in the opening. It gets the back end of the unit above the bracket inside the dash. The pocket underneath is also handy. Here's how it looks: Head Unit To get the...

    Great article on Monster Cable

Yeah, last time I was in Radio Shack a sales guy tried to sell me a 50-ft roll of Monster crap. He had the Monster "value points" memorized, and quite well.
