    8 Band EQ tuning

I have a AVH-P3300BT Pioneer ....i have set my gains where I want and at the head unit 3/4 max listening level. I hardly ever go to the 3/4 mark on my volume control. Now...I have my system set with the crossovers....LPF set on HU and amp ...set at 80hz for my 8's the front components use a...

    Tuning system now......

sounds good....what about tuning for the front stage? The crossover on those are passive...but I can set like the highs and lows etc up or down. What does a good sound stage usually sound like?

    Tuning system now......

Ok...So i have my component set hooked up...was set using all flat on the deck (AVH-P3300BT) 30/40 on the HU volume knob. Set to see 100rms on a 1k hz wave. Yesterday, finished up the install of new amp and 3 8" subs. Wired to 1.3ohm (can each do 300rms) but only have them turned up to 600rms...

    3 subs...mono amp...gain with DMM

Ok...So if I have 3 8" subs wired up that are 4 ohms each.....this makes the load around 1.34 ohm. If I am wiring this to a 1 ohm stable mono amp and each speaker is rated for 300 watts (amp is 1500rms at 1 ohm)....do I just turn up the gain (voltage) until I see the equivalent voltage for 900...

the more and more I watch vids of sealed vs ported...makes me think that I wont be as happy with 1 more 8 and a sealed box as I would just 2 of them in a ported. :/

I lied...I cancelled the hifonics amp and went with an equally rated audiopipe since I see better things about those. It is also a little smaller which will work better for me.

alright...I ordered the 3rd 8, and will be running a hifonics amp that is good to 1500 at 1 ohm RMS.

if I go sealed on this box, it will be alot of airspace unless like you guys know of a amp that will put out around 900rms on a channel? (and down to 1.3 ohm stable)....or an amp that is multi channel (3 or more) and will do 300 rms per channel at 4 ohm.

If I were to go ahead and port the box how I was thinking...what do you think the outcome would be? just loss of sound quality compared to a different design?

    building box for tacoma truck

Any other thoughts to consider before I continue to work on this and slap on the front panel? I was thinking the only things you had to really worry about when building the boxes was just right amount of airspace (including port, braces, subs, etc)...and the correct port size and length...

here is the finished view of that notch...you can see it has air space behind it as well...which differs from the first pic i posted.

that box was probably for a 12 or 10...mine will be housing 2 8's. The notch is just a notch in the box to clear a seat bracket.

btw...I forgot to mention...that the notch on the bottom of the box doesnt actually go all the way to the back of the box...i modified it after this pic so there is air space behind the little notch box in the middle. You are seeing it before I built it up
