Forgive the old guy here. My head spins a little trying to search through the forum! I love car audio and finally have a car worth of it…2020 Challenge Hellcat Widebody.

I am good on cab setup but am struggling with subs and enclosure. A buddy can get RF at cost so am considering Two 12” P3 or One 12” T1 in the trunk.

Based on what I have read, the P3s would go in a sealed box and the single T1 would be ported. Amp is the T1000.1 with the rating at 1500amps at 2 ohms.

Any experience with either set up? Will the T1 have punch or just boom? I love some 90s rap, GNR, latin, pop, country and some overall rock. I like to feel the hit! Pretty diverse music. Thanks so much.

Let's get into the details of your setup!

Hertz MPX 690.3 Pro (6x9 3-way for doors
Hertz MPX 165.3 Pro (6.5" 2-way coaxial) For rear deck
Hertz DCX 87.3 (3.5" 2-way coaxial) For dash corners

RF 600.4 and have front dash run off head unit. I want to keep factory look. I have the RF DSP as well.

Other users whom have upgraded to Power from Punch series have said there is a vast improvement. But, two subs vs one is a hard choice. Going by your music choice I would opt for the sealed 12s. One thing I noticed is when I use ported subs my playlist gravitates towards bass heavy music. This means (IMO) that my system is not balanced. My music preference is similar to yours so I think you will better enjoy the sealed setup.

Thanks for the perspective. I am leaning that way, just wanted to make sure I still got some thump when I drop some Snoop, Biggie, Etc.

Personally I'd go with the P3 and if possible run 2 ported. Just on the Rockford site the price seems pretty much the same and if you can get em' at cost... better yet. The enclosure will definitely be the most important variable in the equation and from my experience P3's in ported can work in a manageable footprint so if you have some space to work with I'd try this ^^^^. Ported with cone area if designed right should blow you away.

Here's a dual P3-12 enclosure for reference, It could be made smaller with less airspace and utilizing a round port I'd think as well.

So there’s a video on YouTube that goes over something very similar it’s worth a watch. Not the same exact woofers, but the same concept hopefully it can help.

Thanks for sending. Interesting for sure. I was thinking the P3 in a sealed box with the T1 in a ported enclosure, but the more I think about it, I think I am leaning toward the sealed enclosure set up.

I still have the two 10" P3's I ran in a ported enclosure on 1,200w and I think they hit pretty darn good. I know they would still hit pretty darn good in a sealed enclosure... the response would just be flatter and a maybe a db or two less loud. Nothing bass boost wouldn't fix. The 12's would hit harder.

Ultimately the information we give you is just to help you make up your own mind. My opinion, and it is just that, an opinion, is that 2 -12" P3's would hit hard in a proper sealed box. I would use the specs given on RF's website for the sealed enclosure and go 2" bigger on each dimension they give. I know you could cover a broad range of frequencies in a sealed enclosure. 6db xover down @ 35hz - 12db xover up @ 65hz with some eq-ing and I think you could cover everything from 2 Live Crew to Metallica's Justice album.

Thanks. Yep…everyone has an opinion! I do get some insight and each has their own preference. I decided to go with the P3 in a sealed box!
