Current events discussion

You just cried that it was unfair to criticize Elon for doing what he did, because he is not native to America.
No I didn't but you are showing what a closed minded and uneducated moron you are. You just proved you don't question what the left tells you. You were told it was a Nazi salute and you accepted that. No due diligence, no questions asked. Why? Because you are actually stupid. You have no idea what gestures they use or are common place in South Africa. Hell, you just proved you have no idea about gestures used in America either.
NOW you are saying he is copying the Bellamy Salute created by James Upham in 1892, that got replaced in 1942 by the US Congress with a hand-on-heart pose? Replaced because it was too similar the the Nazi salute.
No I didn't. But you are stupid so of course you think that. The point was that the United States used it before Hitler used it. Most of the world knows our history better than we know our own history. That is a different topic though.
So, Elon learned the Nazi salute when he was pledging allegiance in grade school in the US prior to 1942?
Must be a time traveler, like Erykah Badu. Or he looks REALLY young for his age.
Now you are trying to be a smart *** by combining all your ignorance together. You just look more dumb.

"WE" weren't. You DID.
"Originally" has significance when describing things. originally - "from or in the beginning; at first." and "in a novel and inventive way".
You tried to educate us on the origin (notice how that is part of the word "originally"?) of the use of "woke", but got it wrong. It went something like this: "It was originally a lyric in Erykah Badu's song "Master Teacher". The lyrics are "I stay woke" It worked its way through African American music into the hands of politicians."

Ledbtter's song was not about ****, it was about racial inequality.

I could do that, and still know more than you portray yourself knowing.
Now to deal with this shit. Is this a history thread or a political thread? It's a political thread. So I was educating you as to when or near when it was first used in reference to politics. I understand that your ego makes you do shit people with normal brains wouldn't do. What you should do is comprehend the continued underlying conversation topic and understand how things being discussed are connected to the actual topic. But you are stupid and just assume everyone is more dumber then yew and you think you have to educate. Hint, don't try to educate people if you are barely above a 70 IQ Rob. It was never about the origin of woke in spoken language. Stupid.

South Africa seems to know what the Nazi salute is.The Nazi salute is illegal in South Africa. Up to $20,000 fine or a year in jail.
Are you saying Elon is so dumb, he doesn't actually know what the Nazi salute is as a South African AND as an American citiizen?

You might want to get your own education on things.

And once it became a symbol of Nazi Germany, the US Congress eliminated the use of it, instead having peuple hold their hand over their heart.

You might want to try a little due diligence before you make any more errors of fact.

Now you are trying to be a smart *** by combining all your ignorance together. You just look more dumb.
Says the guy who thinks South Africans aren't educated enough to know what the Nazi salute is, even though their Parliament made it illegal.
The same guy who thinks Elon Musk is too dumb to know what the Nazi salute is, because he is South African and it could be a gesture "that they use" or that is "commonplace" in South Africa.

Do you think the people of South Africa are so backwards, they have no idea what happened in WWI, and who Hitler was? No clue about the Nazi party?

The only reason you know any of this, dummy, is because you spent the last half hour Googling. STFU. Idiot.

You were "educating me" by saying that Erykah Badu (born in the 70's) coined a term that was used by Ledbetter in the 1930's?

"Scottsboro Boys’ was penned to commemorate the infamous 1931 case in Alabama where nine Black teenagers were charged with raping two white women, setting a precedent for racial inequality not just in American society but also in the country’s judicial system. While addressing people from his community, Lead Belly warned them about going to Alabama, “So I advise everybody, be a little careful when they go along through there—best stay woke, keep their eyes open.”
"By the mid-20th century, woke had come to mean 'well-informed' or 'aware', especially in a political or cultural sense. The Oxford English Dictionary traces the earliest such usage to a 1962 New York Times Magazine article titled "If You're Woke You Dig It" by African-American novelist William Melvin Kelley, describing the appropriation of black slang by white beatniks."
"Woke had gained more political connotations by 1971 when the play Garvey Lives! by Barry Beckham included the line: "I been sleeping all my life. And now that Mr. Garvey done woke me up, I'm gon' stay woke. And I'm gon help him wake up other black folk."

You have a REALLY odd habit of simply making shit up, and then demanding that people believe your fabrications and accept them as some kind of truth spoken by a wise and educated man.

And then, they get torn apart with the simplest of facts, making you look terribly ill-informed.

Mom and Dad won't let you do anything on your computer, except hang out on this site?
No books? No news articles? Nothing else?
That's a shame. You could learn so much.
Well, at least READ so much...

Liar. I never said she coined it. Stop lying Rob.
Oh? Was it that other Thxone on the forum?
"It was originally a lyric in Erykah Badu's song "Master Teacher". The lyrics are "I stay woke" It worked its way through African American music into the hands of politicians."

coin - invent or devise (a new word or phrase)
originally - 1. from or in the beginning; at first. 2. in a novel and inventive way

Still continuing to be an idiot I see. Hey Rob, since you are ignoring EVERYTHING I say and are continuing on to be a ****... Go **** yourself huh?

If I wanted to say she coined it I would just say that. I gave you a simple explanation, you ignored it so again, go **** yourself.

Getting yourself all worked up, kid. Are you stomping, or pounding your fist on the TV dinner tray?

So, did you post the words I quoted, or not?
If you claim not, then you are lying. If you admit you did, then what you are describing with them is that Badu coined the term, and it later got used in the political arena.

"It was originally a lyric in Erykah Badu's song "Master Teacher". The lyrics are "I stay woke" It worked its way through African American music into the hands of politicians."

Which is it?

Confused old man lies and gets called out for it, fights back with a failed attempt at an insult.
Maybe tomorrow he'll demand the reporter be arrested and deported.
