I am still trying to figure out how Trump being president is preventing anyone from doing anything in life they would normally do. The only thing I have seen come from it is it has allowed us to see the lefts true colors. Let Democrat policies skyrocket prices and the left loves it. Let Republican policies try to bring it back down and it is the worst idea on earth and the left wants to leave the country.

How do they not see this behavior as mentally unhealthy?

No, I've heard the excuses (lies) about the reasons for these tariffs. And I'm not trying to say that all tariffs are bad. Targeted tariffs can be very effective....particularly when manufacturers (like some in China) were selling goods at a loss specifically in order to undercut American manufacturers. But BLANKET tariffs on EVERYTHING coming from another country is downright moronic. Lots of items produced overseas WILL NEVER be manufactured in the United States. Low cost consumer goods, clothing, intermediate parts, lots of household items, etc......people don't want to pay a premium for these things......and we can't manufacture them cheaply enough due to labor costs. It makes no sense to put a tariff on a lot of these things.

No mention of how tariffs have gotten Venezuela to send a jet to haul their criminals back home? No mention of how tariffs motivated Mexico to send troops to the border? Somehow we were able to manufacture clothes here and not only that but export them. It's pretty stupid to export manufacturing to China, who is our enemy to the benefit of China and to the detriment of America. But hey, cheap Chinese goods that continually break and require replacement.

Funny that you bring up free markets without realizing that the tariff plan specifically attacks consumers. Republicans rage about free markets in terms of government oversight into companies. Things like labor laws that protect American workers, health and safety standards that ensure products are safe, and environmental regulations that penalize pollution. Republicans hate that companies can't infringe on the rights of consumers and employees....and throw out generalizations about how the free market will fix everything if left alone. If tariffs damaged domestic companies rather than domestic consumers...the republicans wouldn't be on board with the tariff idea. But it's just another blow to average Americans, so they don't care. Free markets only matter when the outcomes benefit the corporations.

Again, we were able to run the country on tariffs for over a century. But now tariffs will crush the American consumer. Lord forbid we do something to bring jobs back to the US and stop funding our competitors/enemies.

Nobody (that I know of) has changed their position on this. Donald Dope simply doesn't care. He lied about bringing costs down because he knew that he had his fanatical zealots who'd jump to defend every one of his dipshit moves....even if they end up hurting because of those decisions. Trump is looking for any path to bring in revenue to offset the cuts he wants to give to the wealthy and the corporations. That's coming in the form of benefit and safety net cuts to the most needy and tariff costs paid by the consumer class. It has and always will be....Donald Dump first......Americans last.

Fair. Any BLM rioters who caused damages and looted deserved penalties and jail time as well.

Hmmm. How many of the 14,000 rioters that got arrested were trying to overthrow our government be preventing the election of a new president? How many were committing seditious conspiracy?

How many of the rioters broke laws that were punishable with the same punishments that one would get for seditious conspiracy?
Does the destruction of private property carry the same penalties?
Or, did the rioters get the penalties that the law prescribes?

Do you think no one got arrested or punished simply because it didn't make the news like the people who attacked our Capitol building?

The BLM rioters literally set up their own autonomous zone in Seattle. And I'm all for the folks that were found guilty of seditious conspiracy remaining in behind bars, same for the guy that took a dump on Pelosi's desk, etc. "They" were no where near as aggressive with BLM rioters as Jan 6th ones.

Don't get me wrong I'm not opposed to paying in...I just feel if the government isn't gonna go above and beyond to make sure that the money pulled from my check isn't gonna be wasted then they don't need it...that's at every level (local, state, and fed)

It's a catch 22. I want to see a return on my tax dollars. To paraphrase Bill Maher "I don't mind paying 50% taxes, but then why is there still poverty?" I have to agree. I can't remember how much Cali dumped into Cal Fire and then they do a shit job clearing brush. That's why DOGE scars (some) people - it going to reveal how we just piss money away and not only are we pissing money away, oftentimes we're not tracking what it's being spent on.
