Our healthcare system is crazy. I'm fortunate enough to work somewhere with an insanely good healthcare plan, but I have friends paying ~$1200/mo (single person) and has to wait months to get an appointment for a PCP. I have another paying $2500/mo (family of 3) and they have a $10/$20k detectible.
The healthcare is the one of the biggest reason I started working for the City. My last job, I was paying $950 a month with an $8000 deductible for my family. Now it's $250 with an $8000 deductible. When I first started here, medical was free. I also have a PPO. I can have free insurance if I go HMO, but I hate having to use those doctors.

Yeah, Colorado got Californicated by all the Californians that moved here. What I don't get is they left Cali and then immediately tried to turn Colorado into the place they just left. Idiots!!!!
They are doing the same to Arizona, Utah, and Texas. Once they turn it blue, they start crying because their lifestyle gets harder to live. Then they start blaming the republicans.

The whole system needs an enema. In our region, dentists left and right are no longer taking insurance. They bill you full price and you have to get reimbursed by the insurer.
Of course, the insurer only reimburses you for their agreed-upon rate (which is lower than the dentist charges).

A relative had a day surgery that was in a clinic in a strip mall, sandwiched between a coffee shop and a retail store. In an out in 3 hours. $25,000.
Brutal.

I audited a case for a guy who had a heart attack. $85 for a multivitamin, $1.1 M for his hospital fees (3 weeks), and he never went home.

Guys, let me remind everyone again to please try to keep other parts of the forum active also. Some of you do try, however, when 90% of total forum posts lately come from 1 thread and that 1 thread isn't even car audio related, or making any revenue for the site, something is wrong somewhere. Is there just no passion for car audio anymore? I'm really at a loss, as other audio forums are rocking. Anyhow, the bills have to be paid somehow and ad revenue, or premium memberships are the only way. Ads can't be in The Lounge with content like this being posted (per advertiser policy), hence no revenue is made from this thread to help out...

Come on guys!!! Lets see some more Blue Screen Names!!!

I'm working in healthcare now. We have a ridiculously good plan (our wages are a little below market, so there is a trade off). $0 monthly premium $3000/$5000 deductibles for a family of 4. IIRC the other plan was ~$400/mo $0 deductible. That said, since I use my company for most of my healthcare, they do end up getting a chuck of their money back.

Speaking for myself, I came to this site because I subscribed to Car Audio decades ago, and searched for the name specifically.
I came here trying to get an idea on a problem I was having. My system is set up, and not changing. i don't compete. So, there is only so much to discuss.

I offer help where I can, but many of the questions and posts outside of the lounge are product-specific, which alone limits the number of responses you'll see. My knowledge is more the system how/why/what/where, as opposed to "Where in the sub-menu on my Temu head unit do I set my crossover?" or "Should I buy the XYZ amp or the QMR amp?"

Are they rocking with conversation about car systems, or rocking because they have a high volume of the same asswer to a question (like a Reddit post getting 1,500 of the same response, or even incorrect ones after a correct one has already been offered)?

If it helps, I'd have no problem posting something, ANYTHING, in as many non-lounge threads as possible, but I tend to avoid those threads where I'd just give a ditto or an "I'm not sure about your Temu, but it's in this place on my Pioneer" (not much help).

It's only a few dollars monthly to be a site supporter and your post wont be limited. Certainly less than a magazine subscription. Just a thought.

I really wanted to steer the site more toward basic car audio improvements as well as keep a bit of the competing nature that car audio is known for. The other car audio site that I won’t name has made a name for itself in diy car audio improvement and is doing very well at that. Other audio forums seem very active also with audio related topics. I tried to align the forum with more of a general, basic, diy car audio approach and away from the competition side, to try to gain a more general audience, as that is predominant these days. Perhaps I’m going about it wrong, or it just takes more time to regain activity. Google done major harm to the user base and traffic the past year and a half, but it’s improving on that end. I just hope we can recoup enough members to keep it active. Heck I just checked keyword “car audio” and was on the first search results page on Google. Formerly it had been on the 10th page or so of listings, if that. Not easy at all to rebuild an active user base though…

I have been to the other sites. The thing that attracted me to the other sites is the way they are set up. This site looks too confusing when trying to find answers or topics. DIYMobileAudio, Car Audio Junkies, Car Audio Forumz, and many other non-car audio related sites, look more organized. On their home page, all the top reasons people visit these sites have quick tabs for those reasons/topics. Instead of only having the top discussion pop up on the home page, what if you added tabs?

Tabs that read:
  1. Subwoofer Recommendations
  2. Subwoofer Box Recommendations
  3. Amplifier Recommendations
  4. Head Unit Recommendations
  5. Speaker Recommendations
  6. Install Tips and Questions
  7. Troubleshooting
  8. Custom Builds
  9. Motorcycles Audio
  10. ATV Audio
  11. Boat Audio
  12. ETC...
Many people don't have time or the patience to jump around and try to use the search function, that are always crappy. Quick, easy, and to the point is what's nice. It just looks more organized. Also, having people like Mitchell can be really discouraging.

To be honest, I only return to this discussion room because car audio is not a topic that can be discussed every day for very long. So, I come here to discuss other topics that I can't do anywhere else.

A close buddy of mine, who is an illegal, had a baby who was in the hospital for over a month. The baby was sent home with a prescription for name brand meds, diapers, formula, and bottles. That means, they didn't have to pay for any of those things for over a year. We, the taxpayers and medical insurance payers, got to pay for it all. He told me how the system works, and he and his wife have it made pretty good. He works and gets paid "under the table." the gov'ment pays for their home, food, utilities, and other essentials.

Anyhow, these extra medical costs are also huge reason for our insurance going up. I also add the cost of meds, hospital fees, and their overhead costs.

It's that catch 22 - more responses doesn't mean better responses/answers/content. Heck look at the 556 vs 223 debate on here. Post after post after post about the minor difference between 223 & 556, when it could all be wrapped up in 2 sentences.

The stories I could tell, but then I could lose my job (hipaa). Lets just say a lot of people aren't paying for their medical care and very few places will turn you away. Is Becky gonna get a **** job for free - no. If Becky is a breast cancer survivor and "needs" a free **** job, she'll probably get it. There are hospitals and clinics that literally aren't billing or incorrectly billing ~1/2 the procedures.

Yes, enough about the 223/556. We all agree that the shells exterior is virtually identical, as well as the projectile. The only differences is in the construction with the 556. It's a little thicker at the neck, the projectile can be moved a little further out, and it can be packed with a little more powder. The projectiles are the same grain, shape, and size. When loaded hot, the 556 will cause more damage. Otherwise, power-for-power, they will cause the same damage because the bullet weighs the same, are shaped the same, and going the same speed.

I have a few people that work in the bill department and other areas of the hospital. There are a lot of surgeries that we are paying for that are pretty sketchy.

As for a **** job after mastectomy, I'm okay with that. That could ruin a woman's confidence. It's like losing a limb and not being covered to get an artificial limb.
