Cone Excursion

Hello again I has installed my system which sounds great the only thing I was wondering watching a few YouTube videos if the same subwoofer my own don't flex like others im seeing on YouTube my box is 38HZ seems like mtx sweet spot for those thunder 7500 subs.. the sub plays great im powering them with an 1500bdcp on 1ohms I was just wondering if that's normal even if I turn up the jl audio twk88 bass on the bass knob it don't flex as other Ive seen.. its a good or bad thing im just curious

The lower the frequency the more the cone moves...tuning that high is probably why you don't have the same excursion you're seeing in the vids

If I based my audio experience on comparison to YouTube videos...

If it sounds good and meets your goals wtf?

Or throw it in an oversized enclosure and enjoy a one note wonder.

You Tube... Haha

You should try slightly lowering your subsonic filter settings. If it is set too high, you are missing out on some low bass. Don’t go too low or the subwoofer cones will be moving more than you want, instead of less.

Sub movement doesn't always equate to loudness. I mean, too much sub movement can be very bad very quickly. Ported boxes work by loading the air mass, which means if your sub isn't moving a ton, it's charging the air mass, unless there's an over-restriction. It's complicated to know how much the sub should move. If it sounds correct then don't worry, that's how it should be. You'd probably get a ton of cone movement by having a lower subsonic filter and playing notes well below your tuning frequency, but that would probably break your sub at full power. Winisd alpha has a cone excursion graph on it, but the pressure differential inside and outside of the box will vary with with frequency and will be different in car. Having controlled cone excursion means your impedance might be decently in control, where the coil movement inside of the motor isn't too quick. If it sounds right, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

38 hz was the best on winisd but it sounds great for daily playing music reggae is my listening genre
I was only curious about the subwoofer movements thanks for your reply
when you say 'best' do you mean peak spl? around tuning?

In a ported box, cone excursion is actually lowest at tuning, the air in the port does all the work.

Worry about how it sounds and how loud it is, unless you're making an entertaining video of course 😉

Cone excursion is meh... focus on results. If it sounds good and/or meets goals run it. Not everybody wants something like this... excursion may be a factor but its more than just that. Enclosure is super important to getting the results you want. Expectations are another thing. YouTube... you tryin' to crate content or looking for legit improvement?

Personally, I prefer a rock tuning with bass in the 35-55hz range but others want huge lows.
