Current events discussion

Everyone is truly missing that none of the politics matters quite, what I mean is no matter who's in office there will be a global push for global internet ID's and ai ran systems in many nations so the govs can control them. The UN-WEF-globalists are piting many nation states against each other while many of them are implementing all sorts of digital and ai control systems to handle the chaos. That's the biggest danger to us all as ai advances greatly and we approach the Singularity, which is predicted to happen in not too many years, maybe 2027. The whole world, the way humanity functions is going to be completely upended by the capabilities of ai. All this war and social unrest world wide with ai leeching into everything from phones and computers to facial scanning vaccines and genetic weapons and nanotech invasion like smart dust to ai kamikaze drones and loyal wingmen and replicator drone swarms, that rise of this technology is much larger of a threat than the actual wars or the mainstream reasons for those wars.

I'd vote the gabbard ticket regardless of what party she runs under. That woman is sharp and has some common sense...a rare combination in modern politics 😂

RFK really might have beaten Trump if he would've had the dem endorsement instead of being tossed aside
Maybe RFK could have won, but would the Dems abandon woke and running on nothing but "the other guys are -ists and -phobes." As bad as I thought the GOP single plank platform of "stolen election" sucked, the Dems found a single plank platform that's even worse.

Even after that massacre I don't think they'll drop thar platform...seems like everything the left says is just doubling down right now 😂

IFK would be denounce as a fascist if he ran on the same platform in today's America

Because we want to get paid more to make a product but pay less to buy it.

No one wants to open business to break even or operate at a loss. And you can't make profit if you have to pay out what you take in.
Hell, our farmers can't even get by without subsidies and welfare, and they grow something we can't live without.

So we turn to offshore mfg to allow for profit.
It's on the backs of other countries, when it used to be on the backs of Americans.

Remember the fur trade from history books?
The laborers (indigenous people, more often than not) had to pay the "boss" for their food, clothing, basic needs. And they needed that stuff before the first portage was ever made, so they were immediately indebted to the boss.
And it just so happened that their needs cost as much as their pay, or even more. They were the "offshore cheap labor".

Fast forward to now. Bezos is a bazillionaire from selling imported goods, who pays min wage wherever he can.
You don't get wealthy by breaking even.

If we could do it better, don't you think we would have done that instead of offshoring many decades ago?
The battle for higher wages and lower prices is just human nature and certainly isn't unique to America. We do have 12.8m manufacturing jobs in the US. That's roughly 8% of non-farm payrolls. Why can't we double that number?

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Tesla, LG, Samsung, et al are able to make money manufacturing in the US.

Yeah, they're just doubling down now. I guess they're just waiting for us to drop all our -isms and -phobias and then we'll see the light and start voting D. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

When have we used a drastic sized tariff to do something about the caravans coming through mexico? Can't be a repeat if it hasn't been done.
The "huge caravan" is 1,500 people looking for work. Only two plane loads of illegals thst Biden flew here to vote for him. /s
That's a drop in the bucket, and not the illegal immigration nor the drugs that the new tariffs are supposedly about.

The tariffs in 2018 were about "national security", which Trump equates to immigration and drug trade.
The new tariffs are about "immigration and drug trade" which Trump equates to national security.

Semantics.

And they didn't work the first time because of the threat of retaliation.
Maybe Mexico can't afford to pay 25% more for all the US goods they buy.
Was that not also the case in 2018?
Yet they threatened, and Trump backed down.

A threat is not much of a threat if a counter threat makes someone back down.

The question is: why did we lose so many if we could simply just have done it better?
Why didn't we just do it better?

People complain that we helped other countries recover and then made them good enough to beat us.
No, we helped them REBUILD, and then they made themselves better than us.

Japan had Sony. We had Zenith for 20% cheaper. Sony won. Better.
Korea had Daewoo. We had RCA for the same price. Daewoo won. Better.
Japan had Datsun. We had AMC.

Did you know the dashboard on your Ford was probably designed 5 years before it could be approved for the vehicle design and cannot be changed once production starts, but the Japanese can react and change a design in a month if they choose to?

If we CAN do it better, we sure haven't made a show of it.

Still waiting on RobGMN to educate us on how the economy should be and what needs to be done. I hear a whole lot of negativity and nothing constructive.
You simply want Trump to repeat what he did before, and that didn't work.

Considering your solution to fixing America is "not vote for Biden", and you can't even admit Trump lies when he says tariffs get paid by an exporter, you are the LAST person who should complain about constructive input.

I seem to recall you offering a business example of "better" as profit being reduced from $50 to $45.
Not terribly "constructive".

You act like you have all the answers so tell us what needs to be done instead of what you think wont work.

Tell us all about your "constructive" "plan" to "take care of America" with the money and equipment we sent to the Ukraine.
It went something like this: "I would focus on America and American citizens and all that is involved with doing so. Better from within. Rebuild the foundation of America. Without a strong foundation the house will fall."

Wow, THAT was incredibly "constructive", and a well-detailed "plan".

Maybe hold yourself up to a standard before you expect others to meet it.

What's the matter? It is a simple request. It should be easy for you to answer with as much knowledge you have. How would you make our economy work?
