Yeah its a "border bill"...

Both parties probably preferred it remain a "legal issue" to campaign on.
Exactly...scotus's perview isn't to make law...so all blame is on the elected officials...primarily dems since they go so hard using it as a campaign promise

Gotta disagree. I've been watching the GOP campaign on Pro-Life for decades. One of the big "selling points" for voting for a populist (aka Trump) was that the GOP could take control of the courts.

That actually goes both ways. The dems are making people think they will get the courts to pass their laws. That's why they threw up a stink when abortion put on the shoulders of each state, which is the right thing to do. You can't run a country and force everyone to live a law that is so divisive. It's just not how freedom works. It's like making every state operate with the same laws and regulations as California. Each state is represented by a people with different beliefs and standards. That needs to be respected.

What party has been going hard for abortion being a right? How many opportunities did that party have to introduce legislation?

Not only that, what party has been the one talking about packing the court?

Democrats. They feel as if their way is the only way and if it’s not it’s wrong. It’s why you hear constantly democracy is going to fall, what they really mean is their way is going to fall.

Let’s not forget that we are a constitutional republic, not a democracy. If we were a democracy, the electoral college wouldn’t exist and the popular vote would be what decides the presidency. Democracy is had at the state level, what the majority of a state wants, is what it gets. When it comes to federal, it’s what majority of the states combined want, NOT the amount of people overall. There are states that the majority of people residing within it want abortion banned, then there are ones that don’t. What is more democratic than allowing the states, the majority within a state to decide what they want? Look at California, I don’t agree with anything that stupid state does but if what they are doing is what the majority of people want there then more power to them.

I’m not directing this all towards you oldslapper, I just quoted to answer your question which is “democrats” 🤣

That's all scotus did was kick it back to the states where residents have more influence on the policy for that state...

I really hate the "scotus banned abortion" narrative

I agree, the Dems love having this as an issue. Personally, I would have just ruled in favor of Dobbs v Jackson and confirmed Roe v Wade, which did find the States could restrict abortion after ~15 months if the State could establish a compelling need.

That's the thing, go back to Roe v Wade. It was always up to the state after ~15 weeks. There was no need for the SCOTUS to go nuclear on RvW.
A court decision isn't law...had it been codified into law at a federal level then things more than likely been different...but false promises by the dems and unwillingness to do anything that'd hurt their polling ultimately led to the decision...

Even ginsberg thought roe was a poorly decided case and needed a fed law to strengthen abortion access...
