Spokey: “Trump beat Biden”
Everyone: “What is your proof?”
Spokey: “My proof that Trump beat Biden is that Trump beat Biden”.
Excellent example except I'm not the one who made the statement in question...here let me remind who did...

If I ask you 100x, will you ever explain the quotation marks that no one can see except you?

Or do we have to accept they are there “because Spokey said so”?
You and Thxone seem more like the same guy every day.

Don't fall back again on the quotation defense...just show where Trump said:

Or admit you've spent multiple days defending a false statement 🤣

Here let me help you Robbo...

I know it's from an alt-right news source but it's the full transcript...

Now show me on the page where it says:

If you can't find that...then your statement is a false narrative...in other words a lie 😘

Get off the quotation defense...it's getting pathetic...
Oh that’s right. You’re the guy who thinks grammar is inconsequential when it comes to the meaning of sentences.

Because you say so, a sentence without quotation marks is a quote, but only when you determine it’s a quote.
Unlike Thx, who thinks a verbatim quote in quotation marks is changing the words.

You guys really should go back to school to learn some of the basics of English.

Listen dumbasss, you posted a statement thinking Trump made it. He didn't, it was someone making that statement to Trump. You made the mistake but won't own it. Now let me make a "verbatim quote" from you.

"should go back" - RobGMN.

Should I also take those words and apply whatever context I want to make it look like you were saying something else? Let me take YOU back to school once again.

VERBATIM -

Verbatim is a term that is used when quoting something word for word, using exactly the same verbiage that was used originally. When quoting something verbatim there is no room for interpretation, the passage is an exact replica of the original passage.
This is a verbatim quote:

"You guys really should go back to school to learn some of the basics of English."

That means no leaving off words or shortening the quote. Got it?

Your post is definitive proof that you have no understanding of what you read, or of the meaning of "quote" and "verbatim".

The words you quoted out of my sentence are indeed a VERBATIM QUOTE as they meet all of the requirements.
They are word for word, and use the exact same verbiage (wording or diction) as was in the original sentence.
If you had changed it to "should head back" or "should go to" or "should run back" or similar, then it would not be verbatim and also not a valid quote due to words being changed.

With a partial sentence quote, do not use a comma, and do not capitalize the first word inside the quotation marks.
  • Original quote: “No matter what it takes, I'll finish clown school.”
  • Partial quote: Gilbert said that he would finish clown school “no matter what it takes."
"no matter what it takes" is a verbatim quote of what Gilbert said.
It is word-for-word, and it is the same wording or diction (verbiage).

Stop trying to score "gotcha'" moments. It just doesn't work when you don't know what you are talking about.
And I'm sure you'll say I'm wrong "because Thxone says so", so go and ask someone who majored in English.
Heck, Jimi is the most well-written guy in the group by far, and he seems to be quite neutral.

Ask him what he thinks of your quote of my words, and your understanding of "quote", "verbatim", etc.
