They seem to intermix the Old Testament God with the New Testament God as well. They don't seem to understand that God changes with the advent of Christ. Ironically that makes God a progressive, which would piss off the Christian Conservatives if they ever engaged their brains.

I'm still trying to reconcile how god got it wrong with the OT and it had to be corrected with the NT.

Two things: One is there anybody among us "telling us what to do" that isn't hypocritical? Two, I don't believe in hypocrisy - behind every double standard is a greater single standard. For example, the jet set environmental warriors believe there comfort over rides the benefit not jet setting provides. TBH, I imagine it would be a total shyt show if those celebs and billionaires flew first class with us normies.

The Bible is a better tool, but only if you go back to the original ancient texts they came from. The stories in the Bible are so manipulated and mixed/matched together, that they lose their true meaning vs where those stories originated from. Many biblical (and other modern religious, Abrahamic) texts are reworked stories from texts 1000’s of years before Christ, and the originals tell more of a truthful and sensical history. You have to go read a lot of translations of dead languages to understand what I mean, like cuneiform and hieroglyphs.

I didn’t really study how to translate dead languages, but I studied what the dead languages said about where humanity comes from, the origins of civilization, etc. Oxford has a whole library of translated cuneiform texts, for example. I mean the oldest languages from the oldest known civilizations. That’s where manipulated stories in the Bible and other newer religious books come from.
