I don’t agree with anti-firearms rhetoric, but Stewart does a damn good job of pointing out the hypocrisy of “protecting children”.

I wouldn't say avoided or ignored, people are clearly advocating against any measure to reduce gun violence that doesn't involve more guns. It's not quite advocating for gun violence, it's advocating against anything that might reduce it. Gun violence is here to stay.
