Im retired USMC. Lots of similarities in function. I don't like corporate culture, full of shallow people who are adapted to fuction well in hierarchies.
Try working for the gov't, where no one needs to prove their worth to move up the ladder and actually run the show. Kiss the right a** and get promoted.
The Peter Principle taken to a whole new level.

100% agree on that, on top of the covid pandemic we have the cancel culture I have feelings don't hurt them pandemic. Sure it can be turned around, but I'm healthy, vaccinated, and really have no concerns over covid or the vaccine personally and still mask up due to the unknowns. Can I still give it to someone else even without symptoms? Does the skinny kid with parents that don't give a shit and preach no vaccinations but eat fast food every day have a terminal illness like celiacs about to kick in and possibly struggle to fight off this if they got it? Not their fault they didn't get to choose their parents.

One of the most profound moments I had at university was a rant one of my well respected professors went on. In summary, wise men recognize that they don't know what they don't know and act accordingly. Anyone who thinks they have it all figured out and know exactly how it is are fools

Yeah, the fools part is interesting. In broad brush strokes its very true. But deep dives can can glean the bed rock truth of a subject. One would be wise to assume they are subject of a war. The commoners have always been so, and there is no reason to believe that checks and balances or bicameral houses have in amy way remotely altered that constant in history.

If democrats trusted these pharma companies so much, maybe they shouldn’t have framed the Obamacare debate as big pharma only caring about profit, and that insurance companies make profits by denying care. They framed these exact same companies as evil corporations in 2008, but now the same people are praising them as saviors to humanity. It makes no sense. .I was heavily involved in politics in 2007 and 2008. My distrust of big pharma stemmed from being a democrat myself, and actually marching and protesting against these corporations. Now I’m supposed to trust them? Maybe some of you aren’t old enough to remember, but I am. If anyone cares to understand my point, just look up some of the democrat talking points from 2008 during the presidential debate.

I will concede that at least there is a system that is genuinely meritocratic in place that does a reasonable job at keeping the dirtbags form getting promoted. But you still have plenty of "competent" golems and careerists getting through. Flag officers are certainly almost all corrupted.

C Wright Mills "They Power Elite" speaks of the American Elites and how they are also at the tip of the military chain. Its an classic in sociology.

So much so. I took was beating the street in 2006/7.

I try not to get too involved with politics, I think picking a side is a bad idea both tend to have reasonable beliefs and both have absurd ideas. I grew up in a family where if you brought politics up at the dinner table you had to do all the dishes yourself :ROFLMAO:

Pharma is out to make lots of money, no question about it. There is some underlying value to what they provide though. If I recall from previous threads, you're taking a few medications that improve quality of life or am I mistaken? Either way, those weren't developed in a basement off some guys spare change from a 9-5 job. Not saying the patenting and price gouging is morally right, but it is what it is there is value to what their scientists are able to create. ***** that corporate scum gets to make the decisions, but nothing we can do about that
You're making it difficult for people to claim that pharma wants to rule the world instead of just make every ounce of profit they possibly can for themselves AND their shareholders.

Nah. I have 7 broken ribs right now and had a bad reaction to oxycodone and the muscle relaxers they gave me, so I had to get through this with just ibuprofen. My body reacts weird to pills and medication. Even NyQuil keeps me awake all night. My body is clean from meds. This is the reason I’m nervous about the vaccine to begin with. My body sucks at taking meds.

gotcha, yea I'm terrified of opiates as a whole I've declined to have them before and gone the ibuprofen route even dealing with some extra discomfort. The idea of chemical dependence doesn't sit well with me
I sure would’ve taken the oxy if I could’ve. I didn’t sleep for a whole week. I bruised my kidney, dislocated my shoulder and broke a bunch of ribs. It’s been the worst 3 weeks of my life for sure, but I’m getting better now to the point that ibuprofen actually works.

That's rough man. Sorry to hear but glad the worst is likely behind.

Multiple gunshot woulnds and grenade fragmentation wounds. I know what recovery is like.

https://money.cnn.com/quote/shareholders/shareholders.html?symb=PFE&subView=institutional

Play a little game. That link is for pfizer and you will see that the top shareholders are Vanguard (who is vanguard?) State street (SSgA), and BlackRock. Go check Pepsi and cokacola, NBC, CBS, Boeing, Grumman, etc. How much of the food chain, communications sector, defense sector, and agrichemical pharmachemical sectors have the same 3 or 4 top sharholding entities. The argument I'd make is NOT that pfizer or who ever its conspiring, rather that they are predominently held by 3 entities who are invested in each other and defacto have controlling percentages of the entire corporate world. And indeed they are controlling our perceptions of reality because corporate media yo!

Yeah, i quit cold turkey and it was rough. I didn't even know the symptoms i had were related to going off oxycotin, percocet, and, hmm, i cant remember the third painkiller i got issued to me like candy. But i dropped them all simultaneously. I was an emotional wreck.
