So you’re defending the way we are leaving Afghanistan by equating it to covid? What is your actual opinion on Afghanistan? Do you even have an opinion, or is this just catchy meme time?

Hindsight is 20/20. I actually don't think that we should've ever invaded Afghanistan or Iraq. Neither one was responsible for 9/11, Saudi Arabia was. What's happening now would've happened regardless if we left last week or next year. It was inevitable. The Afghanistan citizen's that we trained and paid folded like a cheap suit.

There are 10,000 Americans still in Afghanistan. I marched in protests against this war in 2006 and 2007, but we don’t need hindsight to know that we needed to get people out before letting the useless afghan army take over . How fvcking stupid can we be. We can’t even get out of a war right.

We can't even invade the right countries. How many Americans needlessly died because Bush Jr. decided to invade the wrong countries? Could our exit have been handled better, probably. Just like Covid could've been handled better. Just like 9/11 could've been handled better. Just like Vietnam could've been handled better. It was never going to be perfect. People can and always will criticize how things are handled in war. Remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I think that could've been handled better. Did we really need to bomb all the innocent civilians? There will always be criticism in war. War isn't perfect.

We can’t leave people behind man. Comparing it to past mistakes makes it even worse. We should’ve learned from Saigon, especially since our current president was actually in office when that happened.

I don't think the plan was to leave anybody behind. The speed that the Taliban took over seems to have surprised a lot of people, but not everyone. It appears that Biden is taking the necessary steps to get everybody out. Including the Afghans who have been helping America over there.

I agree with leaving, but it isn’t going well. You can try to defend it, but I bet you won’t defend it when arguing with a war veteran. That would be a hoot. This is going to get Biden in trouble in the next election.

We both know that Biden won't get re-elected anyway. Eventually, in these dumb *** wars that Bush Jr. started to try and make his Daddy proud of him, the USA has to pull the plug on them. There was never going to be a "good" time to leave.

I agree with what your saying but at the time, what was it 6-8 month after 9-11 I don't think anyone was saying that.
Now that things have come to light sure it's easy to see that it was just an excuse but once again at the time everyone wanted Bin Laden's head on a stick and no one cared who had to get killed to get it done.
