That doesn't look very safe. Do you have the skill to cut the ends off and do a shorter cut of the covering. Personally, I would use terminal ends for the wiring.
Hopefully, you posted this to show the shoddy work of someone else and have made the needed correction. Be safe.

Thinking something stronger then that Slug. Not the first time I've seen a picture on here with the power and ground wire in the same spot sadly.

I bet install was fine. Looks like installer didn't anticipate seats being folded forward and didn't leave enough length.
