Box Modification SPL Gains

o i see it now.. i thought u put the pvc on a 90 degree angle from a vent that was say in the middle of the wall not a slot.. but umm did you wrap the pvc around the port or just on the top so it looke likd a D but sideways...or did you make it looke like o--- at the end of the vent?

It is just cut in half on top of the port.

Built two D1 Nightshades today for it since I tore up a sub doing MECA drive-by yesterday... glue should be fully set tomorrow to get a new "base-line" score before proceeding with more box changes.

Woops - I made a mistake earlier... must have looked at the wrong data for the subs I was using before. They are 3.0 DCR and not 3.5 DCR as I was assuming before.

With those D4 coils all in parallel I had 0.375 DCR per amp, which is more like a 0.5 ohm nominal load.

With the D1 Nightshades I built I have an actual 0.50 DCR load per amp, which is more like 0.70 ohms nominal.

Even still... it is doing 154.3 dB with a DCR much higher.

I may have to wire the amps down lower and try it that way with these coils. Or use a different amp configuration like four 1500Ds wired down to 0.25 DCR each to get a better comparison.

What kind of SPL changes did you get when deciding the distance between the back of the box and the tail gate?

Would (or did) adding mass or stiffness to the tail gate give you gains?

How about sealing the sides of the box to the walls, and forcing more output up, would that have any effect?

So far the 1500s aren't much liking the 0.25 load. I can roll it and get a score but not high enough to do a GOOD score.

So I may just need to wait for 3500s and use the 0.5 DCR load for now and then build some other subs later once I get it all dialed it for the 0.375 DCR load again.

Are the 3500d's gonna be more stable at the lower impediences then the 1500d/3000d?
Pretty hard to do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The 1500 and 3000 do great down low.

If I was on 12v I would be able to roll into 0.25 on the 1500s - but on 18v it's a bit much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, I've been playing the hell out of the saz-1500d and saz-3000d @ 0.25ohm. I've tested my saz-1500d off & on full tilt for an hour straight in 90* weather @ 0.25ohm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Just make sure everything is set correctly.
