SQ: JL W7 vs. TC OEM10

dub7. but make sure you give it plenty of power. I have one powered by 500/1, and it sounds badass. But Ive heard the 10w7's powered by the 1000/1, and it sounds even more incredible! it can definitely handle it with no problem!

Get the OEM 10 with a PR, it only needs a .6c/ft box and will hit nicely on the lows.

JL's are fine but really just alot of marketing. I've heard the 10w7, and currently own a tc1000 12" and even between those two I would rather own the TC anyday. Like another member said, buy 2 tc10 oem's, or get a tc3000 10 or 12, you won't be disappointed. Once you get a tc product you won't understand why anybody buys anything else for that price.

if your interested in other options you can also look at fi Q alpine type X and infinity kappa perfect dvq all are great sq drivers

agreeed.. i just put in the PR yesterday and it gets pretty low. i let some of my friends listen to it and they couldnt believe it was a 10 and its only in a 1cube box

I read one post that said the TC 10 OEM trickles off around 50 Hz and doesn't produce well much further above that. Does this make any sense? Seems like that should be the meat of any sub's range.

Id say go with the oem for the price b/c the w7 isn't geared as much to sq as the w6.v2, and the tc subs are all about SQ but also get very loud. You cant beat that price. You can get 2 or 3 for the price of a w7, or 2 woofers and a passive radiator for that. You wont be disappointed in a TC woofer, and I cant see what can warrant spending 3 times as much on a woofer that is comparable to the oem

Agreed

The W7 is clearly the superior speaker in more ways than just how it is marketed. Whether you are willing to fork over the cash for it is up to you, but it is simply unfair to compare the OEM to the W7, even considering multiples.
