SEXYTIME!! NIIICE!
Im bored so if you guys want to play along, cool. Hopefully we can get some of the old folks in this one...I just wanted to see where everone started from because basically, we were all on the same page at one point...lol

August 2002 :

I am currently in the market for some 5.25" components for the front doors of my car. I have been looking at diffrent MB Quart models and they are probably what I am going to get, unless for some reason I can save up the money to get some focal's. What I really wanted to know is what everyone else on here is using and what they would reccomend. I am also going to buy a new amp with whatever I get, probably something like 100w x 4 so I can use it to power my rear 6x9's (which are Rockfords 3-Way, cant remember model #). I also wanted to know about two other brands that I came across on the Internet that I am not too familiar with. They are Cadence and Hi-Fonics...just wanted to know if they were worth considering because I found their stuff for really cheap.
Hopefully I included enough information with my question...I will go ahead and say thanks to whoever helps me out with some info and advice.
not too shabby for a n00b! lol. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

hello, im looking to add a sub and an amp to my 1991 suburban. i listen to music with lots of double bass (Slipknot, Chimaira, In Flames) i want it to be loud, very loud but still clear and i was wondering what would work the best. i was thinking about a 12" sub and some kind of amp. space is not a problem yet budget is. i only have about $350-$450 to work with, maybe a lil more. thanks for any suggestions and advice

Alpine Type R 12" Dual 4 ohm VC Subwoofer

Custom Fibreglass Sub Enclosure (work in progress)

I have a DLS A5 and its sub channel is 1.33ohm stable, but since DLS is better than your average amp, do u think it would be able to handle a 1ohm load?
since then DLS has updated their site and says its actually 1 ohm stable, putting out 780w to my MAX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

this is a cool thread.

hmmm... leme find it...

hi everybody!
this is my first system and i have a question about something...

i got a sony XM-D500X (500w rms) mono channel amp with an

infinity kappa perfect 12d VQ (400w rms) and am planning to wire the

4 OHM DVC as a 2 OHM load. i was wondering the amplifier is too

powerful for the subwoofer? If the amp is too powerful for the sub is

there any way i can lower the amps power to match the sub?

It would be great if anyone can help me out!!

Two weeks ago I had my system stollen from me. It was over $1500 worth of car audio. I had a high end pioneer premier, Rockford amp 500@2, 4 audio bahn 6 1/4's, and a custom built box. This system was my baby through high school as I paid for it on my shitty 7.50 an hour high school salary. The box was probably the best thing out of the group cause it my the little audiobahns quake. Anyway getting to the point my insurance will be giving me money towards a new system. I ball park it at $1200. I'm looking to revamp the system more for Sq than for dbl's. My purpose is to seek suggestions on the best system I can get for around 2 grand. I was thinking along the lines of audiobahn, boston acoustics, infinity... that kinda ball park. Possibly MP Quarts for highs and JL W6's for subs. Thanks I need a lil help it's been a shitty week!!!
I still remember the feeling of coming down to my car in the morning and being able to see the broken glass and the hole in my dash from where they ripped the HU out.

Well, this isn't my first thread...but it's one of my early ones (10-03-2002)...

Ok, scrap my previous posts. i have a budget of $300. i want to buy a complete bass system for my car (this includes sub(s), a box, an amp, wiring, and a capacitor. taking the capcitor and wiring out of consideration I have about a $225 budget. What equipment should i get to get the best SPL and best (loudest) bass with that money. i would appreciate the help.
Someone replied how I could get a cheap capacitor...I replied with:

easy, there are sites that sell pyramid 1f caps and 8 gauge wiring kits for really cheap. also, is ultra linear or swiss audio a respectable brand?
Man, I should've shot myself for the double negative: Pyramid...and capacitor.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Shoot...I'll post my first thread, too (again, on 10-03-2002):

Ok, here is the situation; I want to order a bandpass box that is 20" tall and 18" deep, but my trunk is only 18.25" tall. would i get the same sound and quality if I put the box in to where the plexi glass panel (front part) faces up?

I am going to buy 2 JBL P1220D Dual 2ohm Voice Coil subs but the JBL amps don't have a subsonic filter since I am going to put the two 12's in a 4.5^3ft ported enclosure....I need a good amp about 800 watts + RMS at 2ohms to run the two 12"s off a mono load from one amp. I was thinking about the Audiobahn A8000T. Should I use it or what would you guys recommend?

I want to buy one Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1... used is ok as long as it's in good shape and hasn't been abused too bad, but you gotta have a good price as I can get these new for $180, just checking here to see I can find a good deal before I order.
Go ahead and PM me if you've got one to part with for under $180

Thanks,

Jason
In the end I paid too much... What a surprise:rolleyes:
