And you're not exactly a small guy...makes the task that much more difficult.

the civic is a good car...i wouldnt buy it (was given to me by my grandparents) b/c it is sometimes dangerously slow (i would never try to make it fast...never) and it has a lack of features. the new Si's are decent...i dont know if id spend them money on them. i saw that dash shifter and i was like WTF? oh well.

mark what year/model civic you have? ive got a 97 4 door EX. did you have to upgrade your alt? i bet lol. whats the stock amperage on the alt?

The new Si's are nasty. We were talking to a dealer about them, he said great car, but looks like an eggshell.

The older Si's are nice...for a Honda, that is.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I find the civic to be economical, reliable and not a bad looking car at all, and I probably won't have a hard time selling it when I chose to do so. If you don't like them because a bunch of kids idolize them then that surely isn't a reflection on the car. I am a 34 year old guidance counselor, and my civic is stock(well, except for the stereo system). If I wanted fast, I would have purchased something else, but my civic fits my needs pretty well(although next time I will most likely get an accord/maxima for more room unless my commute is way down, then I may go back to a truck since I am a truck guy anyway).

I don't really like the new SI's (or any civic for that matter), but I agree, that vertical style dash mounted shifter is awesome. If I had the money I'd buy an old civic just for good gas mileage when I didn't feel like driving the stang.

It's fast enough to keep up with traffic, that's all anyone should really care about, without being dangerous. What kind of features are necessary for driving that the Civic doesn't have? Keep in mind the price tag. You pay for the reliability and engineering, not the online GPS. The more features my car has, the more things can go wrong, so the more basic, the better.

It's a 98 DX Hatchback. Stock amperage is 75, I have a 150A.

when i say features im talking about the inside...it is just really really plain inside and not too many things.....cheap paneling and there is a lot of road noise compared to my dads accord...i just dont like the inside.

when i say dangerously slow im talking about stuff like merging. sometimes people hesitate when letting you merge or sometimes you have to get into a tight spot and its tough when you floor it and the car barely reacts....oh well. it can keep up, it just takes a while to get to that speed.

dont get me wrong, civics are great cars and they will last you forever and get you good mileage, but every car has to have its downsides.
