xxx 12" shittY?

why do the #'s matter that much to you?

Personally, i don't know what 140 Db's sounds/feels like. I'll assume that it will sound nearly the same as 138 to most people.

and, if the XXX isn't loud, why was it louder than the Brahama in Lloyd's SPL tests in Momentum? If i can remember correctly, they used a similar sized box & tuning freq.

:edit: and lloyd said it was the loudest sub he has tested to date.

Well if I have never heard either how am i supposed to know how much louder that is? and 140 is noticibly louder than 138...

MY last setup was estimated by few local car shops (they didnt have mics at the time) to be in the 135-138 range. Now with my future setup I want to get into the 142-147's of course louder would be better but thats what im shooting for :p

ugh..

buy a **** sub.. install the **** sub correctly.. and enjoy the **** sub..

you're worried too much about a db level that you honestly have no clue about what the number equates to in actual loudness.. and at the rate you're going.. hell with run through two freeze / thaw cycles before you decide..

bottom line is that any top caliber woofer will get loud.. if your install is correct..

so forget everything running through your mind except for two items..

1. How much can I afford to spend?

2. How good is my installing skills?

number 2 will make the most difference..

Just to let you know, I have an audiobahn 1208x and a rockford punch 800 amp...decent setup but nothing extrordinary...I'm not a professional installer...I just made a box to spec...I hit about 142-143dB. in a grand am with the rear seat down. saying that a XXX only does 138, or whatever you said, is retarted. a good install could get 138 with 500w. Buy a sub and max out your price limit then get a good install and you will be amazed at how loud it is compared to your current high 130's range.
