I just wired this unit in my gf's car..........

It worked fine in my Jeep for 2 years, & was fine at first in her vehicle. But now the display is has gone blank. Everything is wired & installed properly, & the xm radio still works perfectly. Perfect reception & can be controlled with the remote or the buttons on the controller. The backlighting on the screen still works when you power it up, but the black letters are gone, it's just a blank light screen.
What would cause this? Is it worth opening up the controller to see if anything jumps out as being broken?
When I installed the unit I did apply a bit of pressure to the controller to mount it in place, but it was working at first.
