xbox live with verizon fios

anyone set up their live with fios internet and the supplied router. I google searched everything and each different walk through seems to have different directions and none of them are working. Anyone have any suggestions here. As of right now the xbox is connected to the router via ethernet and when i log into my router it does not even see the xbox. Thanks in advance.

On the xbox side. Did you put in the password and I think the IP address. It should just auto find the router being you are hard wired into it.

i dont know where to put the password...there is no WEP section since im not doing this through wireless

The xbox should ask you to put a password in that you have on your router. I have mind hook up wireless. So I had to put in the wep and password. But the xbox should do this auto for you. Odd. Im puzzled.

no...doesnt ask for the pass....and the router still isnt seeing it

hmmm i had no issues with my two xbox's or ps3. i had issues setting up my laptop. did you use all the info off of the router? ie model # and passcode shit?

Im so close to hooking it up like this just to see what happens. You still have it hook to your computer right.

no i dont have any option of entering a network name or WEP key...otherwise i figured id just input that and be good to go

Is the xbox powered on and connected to an ethernet cable? Check the back of the xbox and see if you have any lights where the ethernet cable is plugged in. Also, depending on what kind of router you have, it should pick up a DHCP address so you shouldn't have to assign a manual IP.

when i turn on the xbox the default settings just show the xbox's own IP address... not the IP of the router.

it is plugged in.....xbox is on

IP settings read as:

IP settings: automatic

IP Address: 169.254.194.xxx

Subnet: 255.255.0.0

gateway: 0.0.0.0

also this same ethernet connection was used with my ps3 with no issues

figured it out...the ethernet cord the fios guy ran down to my basement is no good...i guess the ps3 was snagging wireless to get it to work.

Glad you got it working.

The 169.254.x.x IP address is what any DHCP device is given when it doesn't find a DHCP server handing out addresses.
