also goes for smartphones, just found out when I went to activate my Touch Pro 2 lol luckily I'm on a family plan so I just have to pay $30 a month extra

yea i was told you ahve to ahve a data plan on all smart phones...they told me i could just cancel t the next month on all smart phones but wouldnt be able to get pic messaging.

I work at a verizon dealership, and yes you need data on a smart phone. Also, a word of advice, don't get a glyde. My store has sold a total of 10 before we stopped carrying them, and got 7 back within the first 4 days of selling them. Only one is still working that I recall. Just my experience tho, maybe we just got the retard batch. Good luck!

thats kinda funny seeing how my wife used my xv6700 just 6 mos. ago as a phone only and yet could still recieve mms and sms text messages with no problem and never had to add or delete a data plan..

My bro has the Glyde...he had problems at firs witht he touchscreen acting crazy but they replaced and hasnt had nemore problem.

Well the software that we use won't let us. But we aren't a corporate store, maybe they can. Verizon ****s over non-corporate dealers really bad.

**Edit, just searched that phone, and it runs windows mobile 5.0, that was before windows turned gay and made everyone get a data plan

I've got a smartphone. Don't have a data plan. You have to do stuff online ONLY. The people in stores don't know shit.

unless you have my phone we walked in they switched all numbers from one phone to the other and just signed up for phne only no data..

WHEN i said all that meant the verizon blackberrys. but like the vx6700 u dont have to have the data plan. if u use it u just pay .015 per kb which can be alot... i had it.. i just used wifi with it..my bro has one now
