Well that's kinda more than I want to spend. It's for my front speakers and they are only rated for 5-35rms and 150 peak. So that amp will definitely overpower them. Is there a way I can turn it down? It doesn't have gain, does it?
yes it has a gain. all amps have a gain that I know of. you really need to understand how to use an amp and not be fooled into buying an amp just based on the speaker rating.
an amp rated 100 rms will be better sounding than a amp rated 50rms. If you are pulling all 50 rms out of the 50rms amp then you are more likely to be geting higher thd and less clean sound vs a 100rms with the gain turned down and not ever reaching its max.
yes its more than $50 but its new and its a great amp.
its also your choice.
I think you need to do a little research and not buy based on what ever bs it sounds like your doing your buying off of.
No offense to you but the 35rms rating on your speaker is a general rating for average person who doesnt know enough about audio.
I am willing to bet 90% of people who are half informed use more power than the speaker is rated for. trick is knowing what to do.
THE XA2000 by the way has a clipping indicator led. It blinks when the amp clips. its nearly fool proof to set it up.
you will kill your speaker with distorted sound much faster than with a little extra power.
I know people who run 400 rms to a side and their speaker is in know way rated for 400 watts. but I assure you it sounds clean at volume. they have the gain adjusted correctly and the amp never overworks itself.
sorry to ramble.
