WTB: Single 12" Slot Ported Box

Hey, I have a Alpine Type R dvc 2 ohm sub, I have heard it should be put in a slot ported box for best sound. I have heard the port should be tuned to a certain frequency (hz). Let me know what the desired frequency is if anyone knows, and if anyone has a box build to those specs I would love to hear from you!

Well it depends how much power you have, what kind of music you like, how big your trunk is, and if you plan on adding power in the future.

PS this is the most important decision you will make for your sub stage, make sure it is a very good one, the box is VERY VERY VERY important, If built correctly , it can mean the difference in -/+ up to 6db not to mention extreme variances in sound quality. Thats like spending 2-3x as much money on your amplifier/battery/power source.

I listen to mostly rap. I drive a Ford Explorer, so there is quite a bit trunk space, although I don't want anything too too big. My old box that held 2 10's was 22.5"x12"x12". As for the amp, here are the specs:

Bridged Max/RMS - 4ohm 1200/600 Watts

Max (Output Power - 2ohm) 2 X 600 Watts

RMS (Output Power - 2ohm) 2 X 300 Watts

Max (Output Power - 4ohm) 2 X 400 Watts

RMS (Output Power - 4ohm) 2 X 200 Watts

I bought the 2 ohm sub, so should everything work alright? As for the box, anything else you recommend?

you should have gotten the single 4ohm. or dual 2 ohm. or go buy another 2ohm woofer and run 2 of them

Is this sub not the dual voice coil one? Or did I still buy the wrong Type R for the amp I have? The sub is the ALPINE SWR-1222D. How should this sub be wired to the amp and everything?

You best bet is to run it at 4 ohms, (series a belive) and bridge the amp's channles. which im assuming is what your already doing.
