400 watt 12 amp @ 12 volt PSUYou gotta specify that in the thread then.
Whats your power supply putting out?
What mobo/cpu you got?
What resolution is this going to be running?
$70 for a "gaming" gpu won't be too easy now a days unless you consider a 7800gt a gaming card
And don't tell me wrong about the 7800's, I've got two in my main rig, and one in my dads, and I tell you, there's not much left out there that they can handle
What kind of psu (make)?400 watt 12 amp @ 12 volt PSUNot sure on the mobo yet
Intel dual core 2.0
I'm probably going with a 8500GT
I'm a bit puzzled by your statements. You say its not a gaming card but **** near all the videocards out there (excluding specific things such as video editing and all that stuff) All cards are used for gaming. I'm not spending much money and I don't have 200 to spend on a card with a higher core clock. My friend works at a computer store and his brother is probably knows everything there is to know about video card due to the fact he has a big *** computer for editing video. I'm not saying your full of shit, but If I have 73 dollars what on earth makes you think I'm going to come up with $200?What kind of psu (make)? What kind of c2d? (Not that it matters)
just fyi: 8500 is no where near a gaming card... I wouldn't doubt it if the 7600 out performed it.
In my opinion, save up and get a 8800gt, $200, and it'll handle any game out there.
The 8800's are the only cards in the 8xxx series I can recommend.
If you don't mind dx9, Look at the 7950's (150 on the eggy now)
or ati's 1950's, those will probably be your best bet.
Otherwise, if You have to keep it under 100. Go grab a used 7900gs off of ebay, can get them near 100 sometimes

Or whine about it dude. Why you think I'm on here asking questions? I wasn't trying to be a dick but if your going to be a ***** about it then GTFO of my thread. I don't have the ****ing knowledge of computer but generally, since the model numbers go up 7600, 7800 etc. You would assume the bigger the number the better? But dude IDC, I found a better deal than the 8500 soI'm a bit puzzled by that statement, you think that all video cards are for gaming? The money spent on a video card doesn't just buy you a "higher core clock", which means relatively nothing when comparing two whole different cards.
And my dad can build a "big *** computer for video editing", but that means relatively nothing to how much he knows about video cards...
Believe what you want. I'm a very respected member on quite a few computer forums, and have been building computers and selling them in my own personal business for about 5 years now. I'm not saying you have to believe me, or that I am the god of computers, but I'm not just some kid that's fanboying around and bs'ing.
You asked for a gaming card, so I told you your options (although your first question was what card for 70, oh but wait, I TOLD you about two cards under $70 that'll be the best for you). If you have your mind already made up, and don't want to take opinions from other people, then fine, but don't come asking for help when you don't want to hear the answers.
I'm done here though, if you want to go "GAME" and play barbies anventure land with your 8500, because you think your friend is a big shot, then go for it.
