I'm looking to upgrade from my Kenwood Excelon to something that give some more flexibility. Any internal amp won't be used. I think I'm leaning towards getting an Alpine 7998. If you own a 7998 would you mind posting what you got your's for?

Is the Alpine 7998 worth the $100~$150 over the 7897? As far as I can tell it is just the I-Personalize and biolite display I'd be missing.

i'm really tight on money so i'm gonna sell this unit and put back in my good ole pioneer. i have had it since it was introduced from alpine,(i'm bad with time)lol, i just recently got the ipod adapter for it, i like it but it's slow when searching through songs, best bet is unplugging picking the artist or albumn, etc. and plugging it back in. I love this headunit it has everything an audiophile could want from a headunit. It's a shame it's gotta go. i will have pics soon.
