can't believe i'm actually posting this, but i ned a caaaaaa........... c'c'c'caaaaat....... no, i don't need a cat, i need a caaaaaa,binet?.....no, don't need that....a caaaaaalisthetic machine....nope......... *sigh* i need a cap *flinch*... that's right, i need a capacitor, like 1farad+..... this is for use as a power supply filter, so i don't feel too bad needing it... i just mounted my 10+ year old polished 1farad on the wall, and it somehow went bad , like a bad connection inside...either way, i need one for my p/s to work right on the bench. lmk what you have

Oh, as a power filter? No reason to feel bad about that.

Close call though.

I have tons of 2F 0.1A 50,000V capacitors that are used for commercial pool motors that I've collected over the years.

They might explode on you. Bob and weave.

well your avatar looks close, lol. really, i have a 5+vac ripple ridding on top of the 14vdc supply. without the cap, though, I can only get about 3a @ 10.5, which is horrible, compared to the 20-25apeak it can do with it. right now i stuck a 15,000uf/50wv in there to get me by. i'm sure a bunch of those stuck to the wall on my bench would look interesting, but just wrong to make them work for what i want to get from it...

Caps aren't a bad thing, which is a commonly accepted misconception here..

They're not "bad" it's just that what the general public uses them for is wrong and it causes a lot of misinformation to float around.

lol, i would rather do my part to get them out of circulation..... just remembered that i'm gonna need another for my 2nd (larger) power supply, so i'm going with the buying both from you guys option. thanks. yah, i agree that they really aren't bad, but when someone generally deems that they "need" a cap, there is a mass "face-palm" because the reasoning is all wrong.
