Here is a long shot. Looking for a set of Scanspeak 12M style midranges from the Alpine F#1 status component set. I've been wanting to try these midranges out for a while but can't afford the price of new from dealer.

I figured I would try and track down a set of the Alpines prior to buying the Scanspeak version since the Alpines have treated cones. I'll be kick panel mounting the midranges and they may get a splash of water/snow on them once in a while. I'm worried the Scanspeak 12m revs would not hold up as good as the Alpine variation since they are not treated. I don't want an expensive set of speakers warping and twisting like a cup cake holder because they got damp.

Anyone have a line on these?

Photocrazy8 was and still might be selling his scanspeak revs.
Heh, already have been there and done that through the search function. He had the 7" midbass drivers. I'm looking for the 3" midranges.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Yes, I did check both. However, this forum by far has the highest traffic so thought my chances would be good here to at least come up with one or two leads.

good luck with the search for the 12M. The people who has them would rather give up a leg then the 12M's. O ya they are 4" or more like 4.5".
I can find 12m's every once in a while. Also have connections to get them new. However, I could use the Alpine drivers over the Scan version for reasons already mentioned above.

Oh, and thanks for catching my mistake. I'm running 3" Dyn MD142 midranges now. I had that size stuck in my head since the 4.7" (12cm) Scans have the same outer flange diameter as the Dyns.

I'm about to drop some cheddar on a set of Scan 12m's. If anyone is holding out and contemplating selling their Alpine variants, now is the time to speak up!!!

For one thing, they are not in full production yet. I imagine only select customers and dealers are getting samples at this time. My chance of even finding a pair (regardless of cost) is minimal.

The other thing is that they will cost approximately 4x the price of the revelators. The cost to benefit ratio just isn't there. I am not willing to spend approx $2000USD on a set of midranges that I probably won't hear a difference in. Now, I can definitely hear a difference between a cheap 4" midrange vs. the Revelators. So, I think I'll stick with that.

Thanks for your input though. If you can find a set of 4" Illuminators for me at around $500USD for the set then I'm willing to give them a try //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
