I'm looking to buy a 2ch amp for my tweeters that does 50x2rms and a 2ch amp for my woofers that does about 150x2 rms.

I only want high quality amps... I'm leaning towards kicker 100.2 and 450.2.

Probably don't want to spend more than 60 dollars on the tweeter amp, and 150 on the mid amp.

I thought this was the way it worked.... you send the signal from the hu into a external 3 way crossover where you set the xover points for 3 outputs: tweets, mids, and the sub. Each output leads to an amp that goes to the respective speakers....

If you use one amp, how do you send different frequencies to each channel when there's normally only one input on an amp, and how do you send the right amount of power from each channel? You don't want the same power going to the mids as you do the tweets...

I'm so confused, I did research on active setups (apparently not enough) and thought you needed two amps. No one answered the question, should I just repost in the speakers section? How do you send different frequencies to each channel when there's normally only one input on an amp, and how do you send the right amount of power from each channel?

I have an mtx thunder 502 amp that'll do a good job on your mids. 4ch. amps have 2 seperate inputs and usually have 2 seperate sets of tuning knobs for both channels. I'm running 2 4ch. amps for a 3way active frontstage and rear fill.

Multi-channel amps have multiple inputs, not just a single pair like a 2 channel amp.

Check out the DD C4 amp I have for sale in the FS section. It would be great for an active setup. (more power to the "rear" channels)

And to answer your question.. no, you don't NEED 2 separate amps.

As long as you have enough channels to power each set of speakers you're good to go.

In the example of my DD C4 you can use the "ower powered front channels for your tweets and the higher powered rear channels for your mids. (x-overed externally) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This is actually what I had originally intended to do with the amp when I bought it..

plano TX?? I have a matching pair for you:

Xtant a2002 and a4004 50x2 and 200x2 (or 50x4) @ 4ohms.

I have the manual. I'd be taking a hit but would do $210 picked up, cash. lmk.

They are my full active amps.
