would you use this for midbass in your car?

brian only way to find out is to try them yourself....i asked the same question about some Earthquake EQ10C8 mids....and got mixed responses and plenty about how there is better for the money....but never no other option...so i picked them up and they sound amazing very great form 47 hz to 4.3khz....so i get the mid bass kick and mid range vocals.....but new they are 150 each....

I would have to agree with others, the frequency range is poor, the mounting depth would require nearly as much money put into the install.

Just not a good option for the money.

Define "midbass."

Model that thing up an I bet it starts to drop around 200hz even in a perfect enclosure, not to mentioned a leaky door/IB. Great midrange for pro audio apps, but not for what we usually need it to play (80-300 hz or so?).

*edit* just peeked at Selenium's FR plot on it and yea, you'll get no midbass out of it.

you guys must not know corvette doors are a foot thick. haha.

seriously tho, mounting depth = not an issue

but

my 18" handles the lows so good, that I need more of everything else ( exept highs )

midrange / along with midbass. pretty much notes from 90 hz up to 5K I need more of.

if the speakers I choose do better than that, then thats fine but I believe thats the intended range im looking for in my doors. I wish there was a spot in my dash where I could face a pair of 4.5's out of too, but my dash is already super cluttered up with crap.

Those 10's that you chose will not play with authority down t 90 hz if I remember correctly the roll of 10db at like 200hz

I tell you what, don't spend a dime on midbasses, I will send you a pair of Cantons for you to try out. they are made for the auto enviroment and will do what you want if you install them properly.

PM me your address

Those seleniums straight wreck shop if put in well.....not really full midbass down to 60-80hz, but from 100hz up the things are beastly loud, honestly give the lyrics in your chest feeling fairly effortlessly...this is from hearing a pair in sealed boxes....not sure on equipment he was using for them.

I don't think that these are really what your looking for with the kicker comps you have in there now.....lol most likely would not blend well.

honestly(i've been looking a lot of this up recently) I am planning to go with 2 of these with my setup that's being put together.... http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=294-659 with about 300w going to each....havent heard them, but the specs make me want them....!

you would probably be better off with the 8" kicker mids

ssmb8 i think they are

they are supposed to be hella loud.

i know my 6.5" versions get ridiculously loud off of headunit power, and still sound good.

link on prior page to the perless 6.5 - cool looking speaker. - sold out tho

I like the 8" version - especialy how they have the semi flat spots cut in the outer mounting.

that would definately make installing them in my doors a ton easier.

and thank you, we keeps it gangsta down here.

hahahahahaha.,
