Would This Work??

I got a friend who needs a run of 1/0. I have a couple strands of 2/0 Flexaprene wire each about 7-8ft. Was wondering if I were to butt connect two pieces together would it still work with a good connection? They are pure copper butt connectors. Link: ANCOR MARINE Connector at West Marine

I got a couple of those in my tool box. Let me know just trying to help him save a couple bucks. BTW he's running 4k this will be his second set of runs has enough for pos but not neg. This butt connected wire will only be for the ground front to back, batt to batt. Let me know guys, thanks

I would weld/solder rather than use a connector. Every connection adds a little bit of resistance no matter what it is.
Good point. What about heat the butt connector and fill it with solder then shove wire in? Only using one connector on the run

Possible. You would have to keep the solder hot so it doesn't solidify before the wires are touching. You might be able to slide the connector onto one run like you would a shrink wrap tube and then solder the 2 runs together. Then slide it over the connection and solder the connector to the wires.

Cool man thanks I'll torch it see how it goes lol. Thanks bro

He's running a 4kw system yet wants to cheap out on wire? It can be done but it's certainly not ideal and with that much power ideal is desirable...
Yup its him not me I told him its probably not a great idea. I'm sure he will just buy some Knu on payday I just wanted to make sure if this would be ok or not.
