Would this wook for a MTX 9500??

hope this helps... not too long ago, i bought a single 9500 sub in a ported box with a mtx 1501d amp(set mono), the sub was wired to 2 ohms(4dvc) and no matter how i tried and tweaked settings on my crossover and eq, it still ended up with a loud low boomy sound, which i hate. then today i tried out one of my old school orion hcca250r on mono set, and just what i excepted nice loud tight bass, couldn't compare the two.. so bottom line i would my an amp with specs that you know will bring you satisfying sounds... and about a month i hooked up the 9500 to my ppi art 1200.2 mono, and **** that was loud and tight. hope that helps...

i have owned many "good" amps and have to step in and say that the mtx amps are great values and i find it very hard to believe you saw significant gains by switching unless you had the mtx amp set-up wrong (the stupid "eq" adjustment was a very likely culprit there).

any chance you want to sell the ppi amp? i need it to match the amps in my mercedes.

oh yeah, and i've run 1800 rms per mtx 9500 15" daily driven in the past with great results- dont' underpower it.

i used all old school stuff, the crossover is a ppi frx456 elctronic xrossver, and a ppi deq230. don't get me wrong i wasn't putting mtx amps downs, but i just have a hard time to set it the way i like it. and orion amp is almost plug and plug, and mainly due to the high thd rate, you do have to consider the mtx amp is .2% thd and the orion is 0.03 and thats a ton of difference in the clean watts you are delivering to the sub. so you wouldn't you agree thats one of the major factors why one amp costs alot more than another, quality?

sorry '99golfer i wasn't trying to start a thread.
