currently i have 2 12'' CVRs in a kicker made ported box. loud for the price i got it for? yes. but the sq just isnt there. so would it be worth it to sell my 2 CVRs with the box for 300 and get an alpine type R 15'' with a tcab box? the only problem is im using an mrd-605 which puts out only around 600 rms, and i know how power hungry the type R is. But on tcabs website they have a vid of a 15'' type r doing something lik 142 db off 200 rms. So what do you guys think i should do?

A new enclosure for the Kickers would by far by the most cast-effective way to go.

In the right box (and the Kicker prefab is going to be tuned pretty high for overall loudness but not necessarily SQ) CVRs can be made to sound alot better than their pricetag would lead you to believe. They are more than solid budget subs.

I wouldnt spend money on a TCAB enclosure either, $250+ for a single 15 box...

No they are not. Where did you get that from? They are tuned to whatever the customers want it to be, and whats best for the sub and car. The type R will have good sq and it will definatly get loud.

250 for a box is cheap.... I paid 400+shipping for my snailshell and couldn't be happier. Box looks absolutely amazing and sounds better than it looks. Plus it wasn't made out of heavy MDF wood, it's a lot lighter which is nice.
